PERSONAL STATEMENT: MUHAMMAD FADLI ALIM ARSANI

…………...INTRODUCTION…...

When I was in Form 4, I was given the responsibility to be the President of the
Physics Club in my school since I was consistent in maintaining good grades for physics in
every exam and my physics teacher noticed my endless interest towards physics. During the
“Go Green” camp at my school, there’s one particular day where they organize an exhibition
and every subject has its own booth to display innovations related to the subject. For the
physics booth, I made a game called “Buzz Wire” where all the wirings were made by me
and the members of the Physics Club. Anyone who wanted to play the game has to pay RM 1
and we raised quite a lot. We used the money to pay for our physics exam materials for our
upcoming SPM examination at that time. I spend my leisure time doing something that is
related to electronics. I took the parts of my broken toys just to see how it works, taking a
quick glance on the beauty of electronics. I made a mini fan, a torchlight and a mini motor-
operated saw made from a Coca-Cola bottle cap, an ice cream stick and the motor from my
broken Quadcopter. The satisfaction of having my own inventions working as how I want it
to be, although it’s not that complex, is just indescribable. For every new invention I come up
with, I become more overzealous toward the field of Electrical and Electronics engineering.
Back in my final year in High School when I was in Form 5, I made a solar dryer that makes
dry fruits. I made dried bananas, people named it as “Kerepek Pisang”, with it and sell it to
the students. I gained quite a lot of profit, about RM 50, with that project. Plus, my solar
dryer is a hundred percent solar-operated making it environmentally friendly. Moreover, in
2015, when I was in Form 3, I participated in a programming camp called “D-code Camp”
that lasted for 4 days and 3 nights. My school sent a group of 5 students to represent the
school and I was elected as the leader of the group. We learned several programming
languages like C++, JavaScript and Phyton. We even built our own website that reads the
codes that we typed together. Yet, what hyped me the most was when we learned to
dismantle the computer and put it back together again. They also gave the Raspberry Pi kit
and we assembled it by ourselves. That was one of the moments in my life where I feel the
spark between me and the field of electronics. I was flabbergasted with the way it operates
and runs codes.
Learning Physics has always been the main reason I love to go to school especially
when we are learning about circuits, logic gates or anything related to Electrical and
Electronics. I always be the one who will score full mark for the topical tests on that chapter.
Outside of the classroom, I’m a so-called self-taught engineer. I read books about Electrical
and Electronic engineering for beginners like “Fundamental Electrical and Electronic
Principles” by Christopher R. Robertson and “Practical Electronics for Inventors” by Paul
Scherz. These books aren’t that advance and I can still cope up with it by myself. With these
books, I have a better understanding and got more knowledge on electrical and electronics
than the people that rely on only the Physics textbook provided by our school. I sometimes
stayed up until 4 a.m. doing projects related to Electrical and Electronic. It’s the passion in
me that kept me awake until that hour. The adrenaline it gives when I see my project working
perfectly in my hands is like a cure to any problem I’m facing in life.
It is an undeniable truth that Electrical and Electronic engineering had become one of
the cores of the development of transportation, construction and of course robotics. Maglev,
the fastest train in the world is one of the prove of how far our Electrical and Electronic
engineers has taken our world to another level. Keeping that in mind, there’s not enough
reason for a tech-lover like me to not consider applying for Electrical and Electronic
engineering and chase. my dream.
Throughout my years in High School, being a school prefect for 3 years had definitely
shaped me into a person with the complete set of skills to be a great student and striver
wherever I am. I was trained to work under pressure and get my work done not just on time
but in a perfect presentation. This experience definitely taught me how to organize time
wisely. With all those weights and responsibilities on my shoulder, I still manage to get and
maintain good grades in every exam. I received 8 awards, all at once for getting the highest
marks for 8 out of 9 subject I took when I was in form 5. I participated in Kangaroo Math
Competition and awarded the Certificate of Proficiency and qualified to represent my school
in the Math Olympiad Competition. For me, no matter how much hurdles coming in my way,
as a student I still have to get good results despite being challenged mentally and
academically. In addition to getting myself ready with the skills needed to be a good student,
I worked in a restaurant as a waiter while waiting for my SPM result. This had trained me to
work so well under someone else’s command as well as to prioritize urgent tasks. I believe
these skills are vital for a student so that we can communicate with our lecturers and peers in
the best way as well as juggling all the coursework and exams.

KIV POINTS:
….. However, with its staggering speed, I see some improvements that can be done in the
future: Its track is much more expensive than railroad tracks and although it is pretty quiet,
noise caused by air disturbance still occurs.
……Being an Electrical and Electronic engineer isn’t just about enjoying the high salaries,
it’s more to creating a world that makes people’s life easier. The profession of an Electrical
and Electronic engineer itself is built on the idea of improving systems to help humanity.
Take a smart phone for example, it has revolutionized the way we communicate while
electrical systems in medical equipment had allowed us to monitor more efficiently the
disease suffered by the unlucky ones and the electronics in security systems allowed us to
feel safer. These are the tremendous changes Electrical and Electronic engineering made for
the past few years and I’m positive that it has yet to meet its end of evolving this world. That
is my ultimate reason of choosing Electrical and Electronic engineering as a course: to help
the world, revolutionize it, and let the people evolve it.
