Your proposal is the first component of the Research Paper. The following items MUST
be included in your proposal. Format will be double spaced, 1.5-inch margins on left side
and 1.0-inch on top, bottom and right side, 12 pt., Arial or Times New Roman, Justified
and Indented each paragraph.

Chapter 1
 Introduction
- Introduce topic (facts or figures with citations). Definition of concepts and
explain briefly the framework and also why is there a problem in the research.
 Statement of the Problem
- Research problem preferred in interrogative form (questions).
 Hypothesis of Study
- Answer to problem. Educated guess.
 Significance of the study
- Application of knowledge generated and must be specific. Indicates group of
people who will benefit on the research study.
 Objectives of the Study
- Indicate what the research will do, for instance, discover, explain or seek to
understand, explore a process, and describe the experiences.
 Scope and Delimitations
- Indicate the boundaries, exceptions, reservations and qualifications in your
study.
 Definition of terms
- Operational and Conceptual Definitions of variables or concepts of study.
 Theoretical Framework
- Discussion of framework in own words and relates to study and focuses on
variables or concepts under study. (Must include citation of borrowed ideas)
 Conceptual Framework
- A tentative explanation or theoretical explanation of the phenomenon or
problem and serves as the basis for the formulation research hypotheses.

- Tentative title of review and must have subsections, coherence, flow,
citations. Do not quote or cite long paragraphs and sections from one author
and have synthesis (interpretation of researches in own words).

defense.

PROPOSAL DEFENSE
Before Oral Presentation

1. The Thesis Students must regularly consult with their Thesis Adviser
regularly as stated in this guidelines. During consultations, the Thesis
Student must always bring the Consultation Log Sheet. The Thesis Adviser
must accomplish the Consultation Log Sheet properly.

2. Consultation Log Sheet must be submitted to the Subject Teacher before the
Final Defense. The Subject Teacher must record all the submissions of the
Thesis Student in the Submissions Log Sheet.

3. The Thesis Student must secure Adviser’s Endorsement at least a week

before the defense date. If the students will not be endorsed by their adviser
for proposal defense, they cannot continue with the proposal defense.

4. The Thesis Student must submit a copy of the Adviser’s Endorsement Form
to the Subject Teacher before they will be scheduled for defense.

5. Upon receiving the Adviser’s Endorsement Form, the Subject Teacher will
prepare a letter for the Thesis Panel Members indicating the schedule of
defense.

6. The Thesis Panel Member must receive the manuscript at least five (5) days
prior to the oral defense schedule. A copy of the letter from the Subject
Teacher must be included in the manuscript. The Panel Member should not
accept any manuscript without the letter from the Subject Teacher.
 7. The Thesis Students must return to the Subject Teacher the receiving copy
of the letter addressed to the members of the panel. If the student was not
able to do so, the Subject Teacher may not allow the student to conduct the
defense.

8. The manuscript containing Chapters 1-3 must be prepared following the

format of the college. The manuscript shall be ring binded with clear, non-
colored acetate as cover.

During Oral Presentation

1. Each deliberation day will start with scripture reading and a prayer.

2. Thesis Students must arrive at the deliberation room at least thirty (30)
minutes before their slot. No excuses will be entertained. The Thesis
Students still has the liability of losing their slot if they doesn’t comply, or
worse, arrives late.

3. Only the Thesis Student, Thesis Adviser, Subject Teacher, Chair/Members

of the Panel and note taker will be allowed inside the defense room. Other
members of the faculty will only be allowed if the Thesis Student, Thesis
Adviser, Subject Teacher, and Chair/Members of the Panel will agree.

4. The Thesis Students will distribute the Proposal Defense Rubrics to the
panel members. Each shall have a copy. Thesis Student must avoid delays
in these because the time allotted for them is very limited.

5. When everyone is set, the Subject Teacher will introduce the Thesis
Student, Research Title and Thesis Adviser to the Members of the Panel.

6. The Thesis Students shall be given a total of 30 minutes in their slot.

7. After the deliberation, the Thesis Students and note taker will be asked to
leave the room for the deliberation. The Members of the Panel, Thesis
Adviser and Subject Teacher will be left for the deliberation.

8. The Subject Teacher will collect the Proposal Defense Rubrics. He will
compute the average grade of the Thesis Student.

9. The decision shall be announced by the Panel Chair. Afterwards, he will

hand to the Subject Teacher the decision rendered for documentation.

10. The Research Adviser must take down notes on the proceedings of the
defense especially the comments and remarks of the panel members.

11. The Thesis Student will collect the comment sheets from the Panel
Members and will file these for reference purposes. This is regardless of the
result of the Defense.

12. After the defense, the Thesis Student may receive the remark:

 Passed- Average grade is 60% or above. No revisions required.

 Passed with Minor Revisions- Average grade is 60% or above.

Revisions will be reflected in the final thesis proposal.

 Conditioned- Average Grade of Panel Members is 55%- 59%

Revised thesis paper must be submitted in writing and needs re-
approval by the examination committee in a paper presentation on
current semester.

 Failed- Average Grade of Panel Members is less than 55% . Revised

thesis paper must be submitted in writing and needs re-approval by
the Panel Members in an oral presentation to be scheduled by the
Subject Teacher.
 13. For the Thesis Student to pass, they must be able to: a) get an average of at
least 60% from the members of the panel; and b) get a passing grade from
at least two members of the panel.

After Oral Presentation

1. The Thesis Students shall prepare the revisions required by the Panel
Members.

2. After revisions, if the Panel Members approved the revisions, they must
sign the Thesis Proposal Approval Sheet. The Thesis Proposal Approval
Sheet must be submitted to the Subject Teacher on the scheduled date. If
the Thesis Student cannot submit the Thesis Proposal Approval Sheet, the
Subject teacher may consider the proposal defense invalid, thus, they fail
the first quarter of the subject.

3. The Thesis Students will report to their Adviser again for the preparation to
the Final Defense.

4. The Thesis Student must prepare their final output. As recommended by the
Panel Members.

5. The Thesis Students prepares Chapters 4 to 5 of their manuscript. They must

edit the manuscript as prescribed by the Thesis Panel Members.
