LLM in Foreign Universities v.

LLM in Indian Universities

After successfully completing their LLB from Indian university many freshly graduated lawyers
are posed with a question of whether to pursue LLM or directly start their careers by litigating in
the courts of law? For the students facing such dilemmas, let World of legal researchgive them
some piece of advice.

Why LLM !!!

Honestly speaking, if one’s objective is to pursue a career as a litigating lawyer, he may not
consider shelving further studies and devote his time and other resources in straightaway
enrolling himself with the State’s Bar Council and start his legal practice. In other words, he may
join the practice under an able senior lawyer with whom he may get good experiences and
exposure in terms of litigation practice, which shall bear its fruits in the long run.

Now, talking about the other perspective of the issue, for students who wish to pursue higher
studies and also are academically oriented in their career pursuits, LLM is a great option for
them! Generally speaking, LLM students have a knack of contributing to the existing academia
and many of them aspire to become future law professors. LLM seems to be a great option for
them and it is also a mandatory prerequisite in many specialized law jobs.

LLM from India and Future Prospects

For many other students, it is their idea to pursue higher education for personal reasons, which
we say, is not a bad idea after all. Furthermore, sometimes even pract icing advocates appear for
CLAT-PG (entrance exam for LLM in India for NLUs) as on the basis of their score they become
eligible for lucrative jobs in PSUs of the country. Therefore, we may safely reach a conclusion
that having a masters qualification always goes a long way in anyone’s career and is surely a
feather in anyone’s cap.

Foreign LLM Degree

ing to the nitty gritties of the issue on hand, LLM is really of value only to those students who
want to gain international exposure to laws and legal systems of other countries and it also fuels
the academic orientation for their career pursuits. In other words, anyone doing LLM from a
foreign college / university will understand how people from different cultures and different
countries think and analyze information which surely adds great value in terms of learnings as
they broaden one’s horizons and thinking capabilities.

Real battle (The Real Legal Battles are in the Courtrooms)

out of the courtrooms. THAT IS WHERE YOU ACTUALLY PRACTICE LAW!For the hardcore
litigators out there, in case of your desire to pursue LLM, you may consider distance -learning
colleges, which offer part time LLM courses. This way you will not waste your precious time, and

having to spend your full time in your post graduation. This way you can ride two horses at the
same time, without compromising on your legal practice.
