SEMI-DETAILED LESSON PLAN IN PHYSICAL EDUCATION

I. OBJECTIVES
At the end of the lesson, the students are expected to do the following with at least 80%
mastery level:

a. identify the fundamental positions of the arms and feet;


b. appreciate the beauty of folk dance by executing the fundamental positions of the
arms and feet ; and
c. execute the five fundamental positions of the arms and feet in folk dance.

II. SUBJECT MATTER


Content: Fundamental Dance Positions of the Arms and Feet

Materials: video clip, slide deck, speaker, laptop/cellphone, LCD projector.

1. Motivation “Video Clip Analysis”

The teacher will show a video clip on “Kuratsa dance.”

Processing Questions: What kind of dance have u seen in the video?


How do you describe the movement of the hands
and feet of the dancers?
Have you experienced dancing the same in the past?
Did you dance as gracefully as in the video?

2. Presentation
There are five fundamental or basic positions in dance that are
commonly termed as positions of the arms and the feet.
3. Discussion

The teacher will present a video clip on the fundamental dance positions
of the arms and feet in folk dance. This will be followed by the teacher’s
discussion and demonstration.

Feet Positions:

1st Position- Heels close together; toes apart making an angle of


about ninety degrees.

2nd Position- Feet apart sideward of about a pace distance.

3rd Position- Heel of one foot close to in-step of other foot.

4th Position- One foot in front of other foot of about a pace


distance.

5th Position- Heel of front foot close to big toe of rear foot.

Arm Positions:

1st Position- Arms raised forward in a circle in front of chest with


finger tips about an inch apart.

2nd Position- Arms raised sideward with a graceful curve a little


below shoulder level.

3rd Position- One arm raised as in 2nd position, other arm raised
overhead.

4th Position- One arm raised in front of chest in a half circle, other
arm raised overhead.

5th Position- Both arms raised overhead.

4. Generalization

What are the five fundamental positions of the arms and feet?

How important is good coordination of body movements in folk dancing?

5. Application “Paired Task”

The teacher will let the students find a pair and perform the fundamental
positions of the arms and feet. The teacher will assess their performance
and provided necessary guidance to ensure correct execution of each
pair.
IV. Evaluation
“Video Clip Presentation”

The students will have to prepare a 2-minute video clip presentation of the whole class
performing the fundamental dance positions of arms and feet in folk dance. Their performance
will be rated according to the following rubrics:

Formation- 20%
Sequence of Steps- 20%
Beat- 20%
Style/Choreography- 20%
Work Ethics- 20%
Total- 100%

V. Assignment

Identify the basic dance steps in 2/4 time.
