1. Summary :

Introduction :

Simple and multipurpose printed circuit board for Teensy ++ 2.0 and Norway & NANDway programs usage to PS3
console flash.

Features :
- Compatible NOR and NAND mounting (Signal Booster Edition)
- Compatible with 360-clips NOR and NAND PCB layout.
- Usable with Teensy equipped with a voltage regulator or not.
- Smallest as possible with tracks shorter as possible.
- Simplest as possible

2. Explanation and installation of LEDs and associated hardware (optional)

Two indicator LEDs can be installed to the circuit:

- A "PWR LED" indicates the circuit, and therefore the Teensy, is powered.
- A « NOR TRISTATE » LED indicates the Tristate point is set to ground (GND) or not.
LED on = active Tristate: the tristate point is to ground, prevents booting console (inactive southbridge).
LED off = inactive Tristate: the tristate point is not grounded, the console can boot (active southbridge).
This is obviously true only if the circuit is turned on and the Tristate point of your console is connected to the
Tristate point of the circuit.
Reminder : activation / deactivation of Tristate is via Norway. By default, when you connect the Teensy the
tristate is active. To disable it you must run the "release" command.
To reactivate, launch Norway without command argument or disconnect, reconnect the power of the teensy.

These LEDs are optional. It is not required to be installed to use this circuit.

2
Required hardware :

- 2x LED standard 3mm 2v, 20mA or equivalent. Respect polarity.

Note : If you want different colors between the two LEDs, choose LEDs with the closest characteristics
(curves). I recommend a green for the PWR LED and a yellow for the Tristate LED.

- 2x diodes D1 et D2, type 1N4148 or equivalent. Respect polarity.

Note : these diodes connected in series are used to raise the threshold voltage so that the LEDs do not light
below a voltage of about 2.5V.

- 2x resistors R1 et R2. By default you can go to a value of about 20 ohms. You can increase these values to
balance brightness LEDs according to their characteristics.
Note: R1 for the PWR LED, R2 for the Tristate LED.

3. Preparation and installation of the Teensy++2.0 :

The Teensy must be prepared to operate in 3.3V following the PRJC instructions. With or without a voltage regulator.

Install teensy its location using, as you prefer, pin headers welded on PCB side and Teensy side for a permanent
installation or pin header + socket for a removable Teensy.
Note that it may be difficult to find pin / socket for point E4 and E5 (.05” / 1.27mm pitch). You can use wires and / or
a small connector located under the teensy. Be creative.
The connections shown in orange below can be neglected. There is no effect if it is connected or not. The yellow
connections are optional (to reinforce VCC and GND connections).

4. Supply (VCC) and ground (GND)

All ground points identified "GND" are connected together on the PCB. (marked in black below). A total of 6 ground
points available.

It is the same for the two supply points identified "VCC" (marked in red below).
Note on VCC points: they will be input or output points according to whether the teensy is equipped with or without
a voltage regulator:

- Case with voltage regulator: : the Teensy is powered via USB + regulator. The voltage of VCC points will be
the output voltage + 3.3V of the regulator. These points can be used to power a NOR or NAND, we can
connect an accessory, etc. But beware, the regulator has a limited ability to 500mA.
- Case without voltage regulator: : the Teensy is not powered via the USB port. This will require to power it by
injecting + 3.3v, via VCC and GND points, using an external power source. The voltage of VCC points will be
the voltage supplied by this source.

Never mix the two cases! this may damage your console, your Teensy and / or PC.

5. NOR usage

Nothing particular. Only be care that no NAND jumper is installed (see next chapter).

You can use, as you prefer, wires directly soldered to the PCB, pins headers + dupont cables or a 360-clip NOR
soldered or clipped as shown below.

If you want the tristate is controlled by the Teensy, use the "NOR TRISTATE" point (marked in yellow below).

6. NAND usage

The PCB integrates the « Signal Booster Edition » (SBE) mounting layout. It is not compatible with the « Dual
NAND » mounting.

However, the SBE requires shorting Teensy points A0-A4, B0-B4, C0-C4 and D0-D4. For that, use, as exemple,
pins headers + jumpers at NAND jumper points J1, J2, J3 and J4 (lines marked in blue below).

Optional: if you want the NAND VCC point (marked in yellow below) is supplied via the Teensy or, conversely,
that supply the Teensy (case without regulator), use the jumper J5 (line marked in yellow below) to connect it to
the VCC point.

For connection to NAND, as for NOR, you can use, as you prefer, wires directly soldered to the PCB, pins headers
+ dupont cables or a 360-clip NOR soldered or clipped as shown below.

7. Tips and tricks

- NOR and NAND clips PCBs can coexist on the board. No matter the use. Just do not forget to add or jumpers.
- Do not forget to reprogram the teensy the transition from NOR to NAND. The Teensy can be programmed
without being removed from the board. However, make sure it is disconnected from any NOR / NAND and all
jumpers are removed during programming.
- When using for NAND, if you installed the LEDs, the Tristate LED might slightly light or blink during dump /
write process. This is normal. No worries.

Special thanks to Judges for his work done with NORway / NANDway and all other peoples that contributed
to.
