Release Notes

This document provides information about System Center Configuration Manager Physical to Virtual Migration Toolkit and any
currently know issues.

Once you have reviewed the information in these Release Notes, see the Configuration Manager P2V Migration Toolkit System
Requirements for complete instructions on the requirements for the initial release.

Known Issues:

General:

 The Configuration Manager P2V Migration Toolkit supports up to the maximum disk size of 2040 GB. The actual size is
restricted by the underlying disk hardware protocol. For more information see the Virtual Hard Disk Image Format

 Post the P2Vcapture, you may need to re-run Windows Product Activation after rebooting into the newly created VM.

 You may be prompted to install Integration Services on Windows 2003 SP2 virtual machines on the initial boot-up.

 You will have re-entered any static IP addresses or other Network Interface Card settings in the new virtual machines

 VHDPrep will fail to run if Volume shadow copies exist on Physical machine. Delete all Volume shadow copies from
your physical machine before starting VHDCapture process

Standalone Media wizard:

 If you receive the error -2147023728 when trying to create standalone media. See:
(http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;EN-US;2471018) for a workaround with this issue.

Rehost Wizard:

 New Computer Details page: There is no Active Directory computer name validation on the new computer details
page. Ensure that the computer name that you typed in is unique, or that you have sufficient privileges on the
machine account object.
 New Computer Details page: There is no validation of the string input for the domain or domain join text fields. Make
sure that the data entered is valid.
 Administrator information page: There is no validation of the string input for Administrator user accounts. Make sure
that the data entered is valid.
 In this current iteration Rehost Wizard only supports the P2V capturing of NTFS formatted drives\partitions.

Windows PE Image Creator:

 In this release, you will need new CD or DVD media when creating a CD or DVD boot disk image. If you receive the
error 0xC0AA0405 from a CD or DVD RW disk, this indicates that the CD or DVD isn’t new, and cannot be overwritten.
Please try it again, using new CD or DVD media.
