The BlomPMS™
The Blom Position Monitoring System
(BlomPMS™) is a standalone vessel
position surveillance system and is
mainly used by shuttle tankers.
BlomPMS™ also acts as a position
system and alarm generator.
BlomPMS™ is developed and
maintained by Parker Maritime AS in
cooperation with the end-users.

Brief Description
The BlomPMS™ is receiving data from the vessels' positioning systems and other
sensors, executing the following main tasks in real-time:

Position Calculation: Distance and Data transmission: Transmit BlomPMS™

Position QC: The sensors are checked
for stability and availability.
Data presentation: Selectable graphical
and numerical panels are used for data
presentation. The display layout is user
configurable.
Alarm generation: Audible/visible alarms
for speed, position variance, out of
warning zones etc.

Logging: Binary data is logged for 90
days and then overwritten. Data will be
logged in their raw format and there is
no filtering of data.
Reporting: Upon client request, all
logged data can be unpacked and

Extensions
The BlomPMS™ includes the
Helideck Monitoring Module
(BlomHMS). The BlomHMS
monitors, logs and displays
Helideck movements.
The information can be
reported to the helicopter
crew, according to CAP437 or
Norwegian standard.

Epilogue
The BlomPMS™ is installed on more than 55 shuttle tankers operating in the waters
outside UK, Brazil, Canada and Norway. In the recent years several incidents have been
investigated where the logged data from the BlomPMS™ has been essential to the
incident investigation.
