St. Michael the Archangel, whose name means, “one who is like God,” led the army of angels
who cast Satan and the rebellious angels into Hell; at the end of time, he will wield the sword of justice to
separate the righteous from the evil (cf. Revelation 12:7ff). Michael, also called St. Michael the
Archangel, in the Bible and in the Qurʾān, one of the archangels. He is repeatedly depicted as the “great
captain,” the leader of the heavenly hosts, and the warrior helping the children of Israel. Early in the
history of the Christian church he came to be regarded as the helper of the church’s armies against the
heathen and against the attacks of the Devil. He holds the secret of the mighty “word” by the utterance of
which God created heaven and earth and was “the angel who spoke [to Moses] at Mount Sinai”
(Acts 7:38). The numerous representations of Michael in art reflect his character as a warrior: he is shown
with a sword, in combat with or triumph over a dragon, from the story in the Book of
Revelation (Apocalypse). St. Michael is called “Prince of the Heavenly Host,” and is considered the
leader of the angels. As a police officer's role is to protect the public from the activities incited by the
devil it is absolutely natural that Saint Michael is the Patron Saint. Saint Michael’s powerful prayer is
often said by police officers to shield them against the many dangers they face in their line of work.
Whether it’s in the form of a prayer card, medal, or car visor clip with the image of St. Michael, many law
enforcers have found security and peace in carrying this saint with them.
Saint Michael the Archangel isn't a saint, but rather he is an angel, and the leader of all angels and
of the army of God. This is what the title "Archangel" means, that he is above all the others in rank. St.
Michael has four main responsibilities or offices, as we know from scripture and Christian tradition.
 The first is to combat Satan.
 The second is to escort the faithful to heaven at their hour of death.
 The third is to be a champion of all Christians, and the Church itself.
 And the fourth is to call men from life on Earth to their heavenly judgment.

We must take a look of Saint Michael and combat the devils we are fighting everyday and always ask
God for assistance and in times of need. Saint Michael, as a protector of the faith willing to go in harm’s
way for the plight of mankind, is one of the reasons many Catholics pray for his intercession during
challenging times. This is of particular relevance to those in dangerous professions. He is associated with
many events of gravitas in the life of a Catholic, such as being the angel to escort the faithful to heaven.
At work or at home, a strong faith to call upon and a sense of the challenges overcome by a patron saint,
such as Michael, can bring about further resolve and presence of mind. Taxing and hectic jobs can
sometimes make people lose touch with what is actually important like God, faith and family, so it’s also
good that the prayers to Saint Michael mention the goal of protecting what is best to keep one’s spirits
high during difficult times.

Heavenly Father, you are completely holy and so breathtakingly beautiful. I fall at your feet in
adoration. I know that you are all loving and all caring. You are my salvation. You are glorious in Your
Being and yet still approachable. Your great love and mercy, Your tender and compassionate heart toward
all.
"Lord, you ask us to love our neighbour as ourselves. The truth is I have failed to love others and
I've lost sight of how much you value me. Please forgive me Almighty Father; we enter your presence
confessing the things we try to conceal from you and the things we try to conceal from others. We confess
the heartbreak, worry, and sorrow we , that make it difficult for others to forgive us, the times we have
made it easy for others to do wrong, the harm we have done that makes it hard for us to forgive ourselves.
Please forgive me for all of the times that I hurt others. Help me to forgive those who have hurt
me. Lord, I want to be a better person, with your grace.
Thank you so much that your Son gave His life so that I can walk in freedom. My heart is deeply
grateful for everything that you do for me. Thank you for your mercy; thank you for your grace; thank
you for forgiveness; thank you for the salvation, which you so freely give through Jesus Christ. Thank
you, Lord, for all that you do for me. Thank you for dying on the cross to save me from my sins. Thank
you for my family and my friends. I thank You for the people in my life who are easy to love. I thank You
for my family and friends who understand my actions, who support me in my decisions, and
whose presence can lift the burden of a thorny day. Thank you for the chance to learn and to get a good
education. Thank you for giving me clothes to wear and food to eat. Thank you for everything.
Father of Light and Wisdom, thank you for giving me a mind that can know and a heart that can
love. Help me to keep learning every day of my life-- no matter what the subject may be. Let me be
convinced that all knowledge leads to you and let me know how to find you and love you in all the things
you have made. Encourage me when the studies are difficult and when I am tempted to give up. Enlighten
me when my brain is slow and help me to grasp the truth held out to me. Grant me the grace to put my
knowledge to use in building the kingdom of God on earth so that I may enter the kingdom of God in
heaven.Amen.
