Dear Parents 
  
We, at Delhi Public School, R K Puram, would like to make the 72nd  Independence Day one that we all will cherish. Let 
us infuse in ourselves the patriotic fervor and celebrate the occasion in the school premises from 8.30 a.m. to 12 noon.  
  
After the Flag Hoisting Ceremony, we will hold various competitions to mark the occasion. The details are given below:

      Participants will be divided up into teams of 
  two. Students will pick up a chit which will 
have the team name he/she will have to be a 
part of a team. 
Up to 10 teams / participants 
There'll be no prelims.(written round) 
4 rounds will be conducted with 10 questions 
each. 
Round 1- Vocabulary 
Round 2- Spellings 
Round 3- Idioms and Proverbs 
Round 4- Books and Authors 
Each team / participant will be asked one 
question on their turn. 
Meanwhile, before the team answers, a 'pounce 
window' of 15 seconds will allow other teams 
that know the answer to discreetly answer the 
question, at the risk of losing 10 points if 
they're wrong (this is called a pounce). 
Any number of teams can pounce on a given 
question (and since they answer discreetly, the 
team which has its turn can still answer the 
question after the pounce window closes). 
More than 10 teams / participants 
There will be 20 questions in the prelims 
(written round) 
There is no negative marking 
6-12 teams will qualify for the finals based on 
the number of participants 
There will be 2 rounds in the finals, with 10 
questions each. 
The pounce system (as described above) will be 
used without modification.

2.Each student will speak extempore for 2 Mins 
3.1 min for the motion and 1 min against the

  OUT OF THE GIVEN TOPICS OR OPT FOR 
  THEIR OWN. 
● DEPICT THE CHOSEN TOPIC IN AN 
EXPRESSIVE MANNER USING ANY MEDIUM OF 
YOUR CHOICE. 
● A3 SIZE SHEETS WILL BE PROVIDED 
● STUDENTS TO CARRY THEIR OWN 
STATIONERY, COLOURS AND ART MATERIAL. 
 
Performing Arts       
1. Indian Vocal Music  Classes VI - VIII  2 Hours  1. Time per performance is limited to 3 
  Classes IX - XII  minutes on and off stage  
Solo Singing Competition    2. Can be sung in acapella/ use Karaoke/ Live 
Theme: Patriotism  instrument. 
  3. Competitors are expected to submit the 
  track to the teacher incharge by 10th 
August and keep the track on a pendrive as 
back up. 
4. Bollywood songs related to patriotism will 
be allowed. 
2. Indian Instrumental Music  Classes VI-VIII  2 Hours  1. Time per performance is limited to 3 
Solo Category  Classes IX-XII   minutes on and off stage 
Theme: Any (Appropriate) 
3.Classical/    2 Hours  1. Time per performance is limited to 3 
Western/  Classes VI - VIII   minutes on and off stage 
Folk Dance  (Patriotism)  2. Competitors are expected to submit the 
Solo Category  Classes IX - XII   track to the teacher incharge by 10th August 
(Any Form)  and keep the track on a pendrive as back 
up. 
 
4. Western Vocal music  Classes VI - VIII  2 Hours  1. Time per performance is limited to 3

● Dress Code: School Uniform except in events where costumes are required. 
● RFID Cards are mandatory for all students. 
● All Competitions will be Solo in two categories:VI-VIII and IX-XII. 
● Classes III- V can compete only in sports events in the Sub-Junior Category.  
● The judges’ decision will be final and binding for all the competitive events. 
 
We  would  like  maximum  participation  in  the  various  events.  As  all  the  events  will  take  place  simultaneously,students 
may  choose  any  one  activity  in  the  category  in  which  they  are  eligible.  We  seek  your  cooperation  in  making  the 
celebration  a  success  by  ensuring  that  your  wards  are  dropped  and  picked  up  from  school  on  time.  Please  return  the 
Consent  Slip  by  ​Monday,  13​th  August  2018​,  to  the  Class  Teacher  to  facilitate  the  smooth  organization  of  the 
celebrations.
