Precalculus: Functions and their Graphs
First Semester 2019 – 2020 Prof. Marcial V. Bermudo
Course Description: Equations and inequalities; two dimensional coordinate system; graphs
of equations; conic sections; functions and their graphs; trigonometric
functions and trigonometric identities; inverse trigonometric functions;
solutions of triangles; polar form of complex numbers.

Course Objectives: At the end of the course, the student is able to:

 Solve equations, inequalities, and systems of equations


 Sketch the graph of different types of equations and functions in the Cartesian plane
 Identify properties of polynomial, exponential, and logarithmic functions
 Perform operations on functions
 Evaluate trigonometric and inverse trigonometric equations
 State and apply identities to simplify and solve trigonometric equations
 Solve triangles
 Perform operations on complex numbers
 Find the equation and sketch the graphs of conic sections
