There are many different types of landforms. Landforms are


natural features on the planet’s surface. You probably know
about some of them already!

Mountains are very tall landforms. They can be pointed or


rounded, and some are even volcanic! When there are many
mountains together, it is called a mountain range. Some
mountains are formed from lava, while other mountains are
formed when the plates under the earth’s surface crash together
and push up the land. Either way mountains are formed, it takes
many, many years.

Valleys are the spaces between mountains. Some valleys are V-shaped, and some are U-shaped.
Many people live in valleys, because they have a comfortable temperature, are protected, and
may have rivers flowing through them.

Plateaus are like mountains, but instead of pointed or rounded tops, they are flat on top. Plains
are enormous, flat areas of land. Since flat land is easy to build on, many cities are on plains.
Many plants can grow on plains, as well. Some plains are by oceans, and are called ocean
plains. Plains that are by rivers are called river plains, and are especially good for growing
crops.
Islands are areas of land surrounded by water on all sides. They can be formed by underwater
volcanoes. The lava builds up over time and eventually breaks the surface of the ocean.

Deserts are another type of landform. They are large areas of land that do not receive a lot of
rainfall. They can be very hot during the day, and very cold at night. It is difficult for many
plants and animals to live in deserts.

It is important that you eat the right amount of food. If


you will eat too little, you will not have enough energy
and will not grow, you are more likely to become ill, if
you will not eat healthily. In severe cases people can
starve to death if they don't have enough food. Food
gives you the energy to play ,learn and enjoy sports.

The type of food that you eat is also important you


should eat at least five portions of fruit and vegetables a
day. A portion is around ahand full. Potatoes don't
count in this total as they are carbohydrates.

You should eat plenty of carbohydrates as they give you energy. lt is best to choose
brown or whole grain version such as granary rolls and brown pasta and and rice as
these have more fiber.

Dairy products such as milk yougurt Cheese and butter are important because they
give you Calcium which helps you to grow stronger bones . It is important to eat protein
every day Although you dont need an enormous amount of protein. You can find
protien in fish, beans, lentils, eggs and meat.

Your body does not need any sweets or chocolate but you can still eat them. Just
make sure that they are on occasional treat as they are full of sugar and can rot your
teeth as well as make you feel full up when you should be eating other healthier food.

The food pyramid is useful because it shows you how much of each food group you
need to have for balanced diet. Do you eat a balanced diet?
