Throughout 2016 until early 2018, we have been focusing in on disaster mitigation effort in Indonesia.
We prepare and train the people in the surrounding disaster-prone area to be the first responders when
a disaster happens. We have been working in Semeru (East Java), Leuser (Aceh), Sinabung (North
Sumatra), Kerinci (Jambi), Manglayang (West Java), and Gede (West Java).
In 2018, we were invited to collaborate with the Ministry of Environment and Forestry to develop KUN
WILDERNESS CENTER (medical clinic and information center)
By August 2018, to respond to the Lombok Earthquake, KUN deploys a team as an emergency response
during emergency phase and to conduct a program until reconstruction/rehabilitation phase.
By the end of September 2018, as a response to PaluDonggala Earthquake and Tsunami, KUN sends a
team to do emergency response, and develops programs until the present time.

PROGRAMS
Community and Environmental Empowerment
KUN Humanity System+ is collaborating with the Ministry of Environment and Forestry (KLHK) through
KUN Center. The collaboration includes active involvement in the development of access system for
conservation and management in all National Parks in Indonesia (54 National Parks). KUN Center also
brings community empowerment to people who lived around conservation areas and National Parks.
KUN Center also takes a significant role in enhancing the capacity of local porters, guides, and
communities.
The main objectives of KUN Center are to strengthen nature conservation, promote community
empowerment, improve the positive experience of travelling in the wild, and also to significantly reduce
the number of accidents in the wilderness in Indonesia. Currently, over 150 porters have been
participating and certified in WFA (Wilderness First Aid).
Disaster Emergency Management and Countermeasures
We always respond to disaster emergencies quickly. When the mortality rate increases in a short time,
the main challenge is how to save as many lives as possible in a relatively short time. KUN Humanity
System + collaborates with volunteers and other organization throughout Indonesia so that KUN can
immediately assess disaster situations, precisely identify problems and major issues in responding to the
disaster, and quickly deploy disaster emergency response teams. The organization reserve cash, allows
KUN to quickly respond and when and where needs are highest.
SIMAUNG (Foothill Cinema / Outdoor Cinema)
KUN Humanity System + moves with local communities and the local government through SIMAUNG
(Sinema Kaki Gunung – Foothill Cinema / Outdoor Cinema). SIMAUNG is a form of education and
awareness program for disaster management. SIMAUNG is intended to increase awareness and
knowledge of local communities and the local government regarding the dangers that must be avoided
and remind them regarding the potential that allows them to cope with disaster. SIMAUNG is presented
through film screenings in an open-air cinema, and held locally.
