You have contacted us via our website (www.scope.org.pk ) sometime ago and you showed your interest
to work with Society for Conservation and Protection of Environment (SCOPE). SCOPE is an NGO
functional since 1988 and mostly works on sustainable natural resources management (NRM),
combating desertification, clean drinking water and environmental law. SCOPE has a consultative status
with the United Nations and member of many international networks.
We are pleased to invite you to get register with our “SCOPE’s Sustainable Development Volunteer/
Internship Programme (SSDVIP)”. Salient features, terms and conditions of SSDVIP are as follows;
1- SSDVP is meant to allow fresh graduates, under study students, environmental activists,
environmental enthusiasts, experts and all those educated and experienced persons who want
to contribute to sustainable development and to be associated with SCOPE. SSDVIP offers
experience/ intern certificate, which will be useful in career development of the internee/
volunteer.
2- SSDVIP is a fixed term NON PAID position. On receipt of application, SCOPE will provide a list of
desired area of work according to SCOPE’s field of interest and will ask SSDIVP to choose priority
area/s of work. Then SCOPE will assign work with terms of reference (TORs). On successful
completion of assignment SCOPE will award a certificate to volunteer, mentioning his/her
assignment and level of satisfaction (grade A, B, C, D)
3- SSDVIP is designed as a flexible programme for which you don’t need to necessarily attend our
office (until required by your supervisor considering your location and availability). So we urge
you to select the subjects on which you can work in distance with e-mail based communication
4- SSDVIP assignments are mostly internet based research and writing, requirements in term of
time are from 3 months to 3 years.
5- On successful completion of assignment with full satisfaction of your supervisor, your will be
invited to take employment on our running projects, depending upon existence of job position
6- There is a flexible criteria of selection, you should be committed to work on environment and
sustainable development issues, you are willing to work with LEAST supervision, you want to
develop your career in environment and development, you are very good in English writing, you
can work on word and excel computer programmes, you can communicate via e-mail, internet
etc.
7- As stated SSDVIP is non paid programme, however, very rarely, if some assignment requires
finance requirements, SCOPE itself will offer a minimum amount (only for purchasing
equipment, material etc. required for the assignment, however no salaries, stipends, transport
compensation, will be paid by SCOPE)
8- In case of a field investigation project SCOPE will provide a representation letter to intern/
volunteer to facilitate his/ her work
9- You can apply and register for SSDVIP programme any time, there is no dead line. On selection
we will send you a “Terms of Reference (TOR)” including assignment details, name of your
supervisor, methodology to execute assignment, guidelines, expected results, required quality
etc. on sending the signed TORs, assignment will be taken as initiated formally
10- No certificate will be given if your supervisor’s positive recommendation support your
assignment
11- Strictly, all related communication will be via e-mails, or in some cases pre-planned skype
sessions
