I. Working Title

Students’ Overview on the Off-Campus Activities

II.Bacground of the study

Off-campus are the activities that are held outside the campus or school

premises that helps the students to enhance and boost their confidence,

knowledge and interacting to the other people outside the campus.

According to Casiple (2014) HEI’s off-campus activities include

educational tours/field trip that include the visit to reputable firms

of government sites and other areas identified by the concerned

local government units (LGU) safe for students; culture and arts

related activities such as visits to museums cultural sites and other

related visits; participation and/or attendance in degree program

relevant events; and field study/experiential learning/related

learning experiences.

It benefits the students who are shy, ashamed to show what they can do

and has difficulties in communicating to others without feeling anxious and

doubts. Based on the article of Goh in (2014), the objective of this is

to understand how the use of field trips can enhance students

educational

experiences. Results revealed two key categories as attitudes: (1)

learning towards subject as motivated factors through field trips. It

revealed that the students attitude towards fieldtrip as an

enhancement to their education and viewed field trips as a form of

learning towards their future pathway by first hand experiences that

helps them to be more independent as an individual.According to

DepED in (2017), implementing guidelines on the conduct off-

campus activities. In support of the K to 12 curriculum

implementation, the Department of Education (DEPED) hereby

establishes the enclosed guidelines on the conduct of co-curricular

and extra-curricular activities for activities will adhere to the

following: (1)ensure relevance and alignment with the education

competencies of the k to 12 curriculum and leaderships development

of learner; (2) uphold child protection principles and that no learner

shall be disadvantaged in any form; and observe the safety and

security protocols for all participants before, during and after the

activity. This assurance repeals DepEd order Nos.87 and 52 s. 2003,

5, s. 2002 and 56, s.2001. All other related issuances, rules which

are inconsistent with this policy are hereby repealed, rescinded, or

modified accordingly. Immediately dissemination of and strict

compliance with this order is directed.

Off-campus activities also include conventions, seminars, conferences, quiz

bees, competitions, e.m. top, immersions and participation in sports

activities, activities initiated by recognized various student group;

interschool competitions/tournaments; or culture and arts

performances and competition. There are many students that

learned through off-campus activities to improve their experiences,

skills, interaction and knowledge that are not taught inside the

campus. However, after education Secretary Leonor Briones lifts the

moratorium on off-campus activities, which the DepEd had imposed

following the Tanay road crash that killed 15, students DepEd allows

school field trips again.

III. Grand Tour Question

What is/are the students’ overview about off-campus activities?

IV. Proposed Methodology

4.1. The researchers will use phenomenology research design. According to

Creswell (2013) Phenomenology is an approach to qualitative

research that focuses on the commonality of a lived experience

within a particular group. The fundamental goal of the approach is to

arrive at a description of the nature of the particular event.

Typically, interviews are conducted with a group of individuals who

have first-hand knowledge of an event, situation or experience.

4.2. The Sampling Plan

In this study, the researchers will use purposive sampling. According to

Ashley (2018) A purposive sample is a non-probability sample that

is selected based on characteristics of a population and the objective

of the study. Purposive sampling is also known as judgmental,

selective, or subjective sampling and because researchers believe that it

would be easier for them to conduct their research, due to what the research

design’s goal.

4.3. Data Collection Analysis

The researchers will use the semi structured interview. According to Lisa

(2008) The semi-structured interview is a qualitative data collection

plan where the researchers ask the participants a set of predetermine

questions. The researcher has more control over the topics of the

interview than in unstructured interviews, These type of interview

structure helps keep the adjustment that must-have to follow issues raised

by participants that had not been expected control and direction of the

interview.
Specific Questions:

1. What are your insights about off-campus activities?

2. How do off-campus activities help SHS in their strand?

3. What is your understanding of the schools no responsibility for off-campus

activities?
