PERCEIVED LEARNING ABILITIES OF K-12 GRADUATESENROLLED IN


THE NURSING PROGRAM OF CAMARINES SUR POLYTECHNIC
COLLEGES

This chapter is a presentation of the different variables in this study

according to the profile of the respondents which includes age, sex, monthly

family income, ordinal position in the family, school graduated and academic

track; the Perceived academic performance of K-12 graduates enrolled in

Nursing Program of Camarines Sur Polytechnic Colleges in terms of

knowledge, skills and attitude; the factors affecting the academic performance

of K-12 graduates enrolled in Nursing Program of Camarines Sur Polytechnic

Colleges in terms of substantive dimension, procedural dimension, human

relations dimension and environmental dimension; the significant relationship

between the profile of the respondents and the perceived academic

performance and the factors affecting the academic performance of the K-12

graduates enrolled in Nursing Program of Camarines Sur Polytechnic Colleges;

the proposed plan to enhance the Academic Performance of K-12 Graduates

Enrolled in the Nursing Program of Camarines Sur Polytechnic Colleges.

1. Profile of the Respondents

The profile of the respondents includes the age, sex, monthly family

income, ordinal position in the family, school graduated and academic track.

Age. As shown in Figure, among the 105 respondents, 71 or 67.62

percent belonged to the age range 15 – 19-year-old; 34 or 32.38 percent

belonged to the age range 20 – 24-year-old; zero or zero percent belonged to

the age range 25 – 29-year-old and 30-year-old and above.

Data show that most of the K-12 graduates enrolled in Nursing Program

of Camarines Sur Polytechnic Colleges were belonged to age range 15 – 19-

year-old, which implies that most students were interested to enroll to college

at young age as compare to the older age range where their interest was

diverted into some factors that affect their activities.

Sex. As shown in Figure , among of 105 respondents, 78 or 74.29

percent were females and the rmaining 27 or 25.71 percent were males. Data

shows that females in the field of health care were most numbered and more

interested as to compare with males.

Monthly Family Income. As shown in Figure , out of 105 respondents,

32 or 30.48 percent had a monthly income of Php 5,000 – Php 14,000; 23 or

21.90 percent belonged to Php 15,000 – Php 24,999; 19 or 18.10 percent had

Php 4,000 and below; 17 or 16.19 percent had Php 40,000 and above; while

14 or 13.33 percent had Php 25,000 – Php 39,999.

It shows that the monthly family income is relevant to the school last

attended by the K-12 graduates enrolled in Nursing Program of Camarines

Sur Polytechnic Colleges. The said income illustrates how far the K-12

graduates can afford to sustain their needs in attaining excellence academic

performance.

Ordinal Position in the Family. As shown in Figure , out of 105

respondents, 75 or 71.43 percent belonged to the first to third ordinal position;

18 or 17.14 percent belonged to the fourth to fifth ordinal position; 11 or 10.48

percent belonged to seventh to ninth ordinal position; 1 or .95 percent belonged

to the tenth to twelfth ordinal position; while 0 or 0.00 percent belonged to the

thirteenth and above ordinal position in the family.

Result implies that most of the K-12 graduates enrolled in Nursing

Program of Camarines Sur polytechnic Colleges were belonged to the first to

third ordinal position in the family, the profile is relevant in their monthly family

income and school last attended wherein most of the first born up to the third

born in the family were given a chance to enroll the program, moreover, they

were given a chance to sustain their needs in terms or learning.

School Graduated. As shown in Figure , out of 105 respondents, 54 or

51.43 percent were able to finished their senior high school in private school;

while 51 or 48.57 percent were able to finished their senior high school in a

public school.

Data shows that there are a greater number of respondents were able

to attend private school than public school, this implies that the said profile of

respondents was related to their ordinal position as well as with the monthly

family income. Private school as to compare with public school is more greater

cost, with the capacity of the family to send students to private school explain

that the family can afford to attend the financial needs of the respondents.

Academic Track. As shown in Figure , out of 105 respondents, 65 or

61.91 percent attended STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and

Mathematics); 27 or 25.71 percent attended GAS (General Academic Strand);

six or 5.72 percent attended ABM (Accountancy, Business and Management);

five or 4.76 percent attended HUMMS (Humanities and Social Sciences); two

or 1.90 percent attended TVL (Technical Vocational Livelihood).

Data implies that most of the respondents were attended STEM strand,

respondents were aware that the strands they have taken were related and in-

line with their current course.

2. Perceived academic performance of K-12 graduates enrolled in

Nursing Program of Camarines Sur Polytechnic Colleges in terms of

Knowledge, Skills and Attitude.
