IKEA-2 JAKARTA GARDEN CITY
There is dynamic challenges in building IKEA-2 Jakarta Garden City in Indonesia particularly
with the complexity multi-disciplinary coordination, the quality and safety during construction
and the very tight schedule for hand-overs. The team has to find ways to innovate to meet all
challenges to ensure all has been built and installed within required quality, meeting safe
construction time line and making Client more engaged in a single platform which focus on
SOLUTIONS.
BIM in IKEA-2 JGC is practically a proactive attitude towards innovation. We call it an
Attitude of thinking before doing. We did a scalable digital simulation of the real execution,
through Revit, Navisworks and synchro which enables us to virtually prepare and time to
check everything to make necessary arrangements and changes to improve and optimize
time and effort. We did avoid the unnecessary expenses including potential time loss by
introduction of BIM review, whereby all Consultants, Engineers, Modellers and Contractor
review the issues of clashes and corrections in one venue. In average Client with it's
consultants reply RFI with an average of 8 replies per month, but with the BIM review it has
improve the closing of issues and concern by 200%! Which in turn improve our interaction
and motivation in solving problems before it happens on site.
We have digitized the process for IKEA-2 JGC building paving the way of implementing bill
of quantities, the time schedule, the cost estimation as well creating a 3D database (share
point) containing the integrated model of the totality of the building itself. And with the use of
BIM360 every information linked in a single 3D model, the integrated model information can
easily be tracked by a simple APP on smart phones and on tablet while on the move. With
this innovative approach we've increased the productivity by at least 35% of saving time.
