Main Characters

The main character of the film is Elizabeth Smart where she is

abducted at a young age in her own home, she was a kind,
intelligent, shy, obedient, and a great daughter of Ed Smart and
Lois Smart. Ed Smart was Elizabeth's father, he was a loving
father to her children, kind and a hardworking as husband and
father, while her mother Lois Smart was a wonderful mother,
brave, kind, helpful and a devoted mother to his children .This
included Elizabeth’s respectful, and cheerful siblings, one of
them was Mary Katherine her younger sister who was always
with her, an obedient and kind, she was the sister of Elizabeth
who knew what had happened when she had been abducted at
that night. And those who abducted her were Brian David
Mitchell / Emmanuel and his wife Wanda Ilene Barzee. Brian
David Mitchell was the kidnapper of Elizabeth, he also
pretended as Emmanuel who was claiming that he was
a prophet of God, because of that he was met by the Smart
Family and even helped him. He has a bad attitude, mostly he do
evil doings, like of his being thief, a liar, and a hypocrite. While
his wife Wanda Ilene Barzee who was personally helped her
husband in making his evil doing, especially by abducting
Elizabeth, she also the one who hide and threatened Elizabeth
while Elizabeth was with them. Wanda is mentally ill maybe
because of her manipulated experiences.
Plot
A fourteen year old Elizabeth Smart is part of a large and loving
Mormon family. They met a self-styled prophet named
Emmanuel, asking for a change, and Lois, Elizabeth mother help
him to recommend to his husband for help in remodeling their
house, so Ed hires him as a handyman.
Months later, Emmanuel returns and kidnaps Elizabeth one
night. Her sister, Mary Katherine, who is in the bed with her, is
too terrified to immediately tell her parents.
After what happen a massive police investigation begins
immediately. The Smarts are angered when the investigation
questions whether any family members are involved in
Elizabeth’s disappearance. A huge search effort begins and the
story causes a media. But it has been proven that it is a false
rumor that police suspect a family member.
So that another new suspect has been found out it was Richard
Ricci, who worked for the Smarts until he was fired when
jewelry went missing, is arrested for a parole violation and the
police suspect his involvement in Elizabeth's disappearance.
Emmanuel subsequently tries to kidnap one of Elizabeth's
cousins, but is unsuccessful.
The Smarts learn Ricci has had an aneurysm and is now brain
dead.
After this, Elizabeth's mother gives up hope, the story fades into
the background and the police stop looking for Elizabeth.
At one point, Mary Katherine realizes that it was Emmanuel
who took Elizabeth, but the police do not pursue this lead. Ed
appears on the TV show and tells in confidence about the new
information.
When one of the hosts reveals it on American television talk
show, the Smarts publish a sketch of Emmanuel, who is later
identified as Brian David Mitchell.
After having taken her to San Diego, Mitchell returns to Salt
Lake City with his wife Wanda Ilene Barzee and Elizabeth.
When the police accidentally come across the three of them and
question them, Elizabeth identifies herself, resulting in
Mitchell's arrest and Elizabeth's reunion with her family.
A postscript revealed that Wanda Ilene Barzee was sentenced to
15 years in prison. After being deemed fit to stand trial, Brian
David Mitchell was sentenced to life in prison without
possibility of parole.

Role of the Family

The role of an Smart family in the film is to have unity,
cooperation and mutual love. There must be understanding. All
together should work whatever happens, a family must be
helpful to each member of it, having a supportive family is a real
and good family. And one of the most important things a family
should have is a good faith in God, trust is also number one in a
family, trust to every members of the family and especially trust
in God. A family must build up of a good understanding, and a
good relationship to each other.

Role of the Parents

The role of the family in the film is to be strong, they need not to
give up easily. They need to show to other people, especially to
their other children that they didn’t giving up and strong,
because they love their child. They need to be courageous with
each other so that they can handle all of their problems, because
the family must protect their children so it is their responsibility
to look for their daughter, no matter how hard they need to
explain to their other children what is happening. All they need
is to control their selves; they need to not get angry. They didn’t
even stop praying that their child will be in good shape and
hopefully they will see it again. And they also need to
convinced there selves that they can find Elizabeth, that
Elizabeth is in a good hand because God in her side protecting
her.
Role of the Investigator
Their role is to find Elizabeth who was abducted, they need to
be responsible of what job they has. Their work is to prove who
the kidnapper of Elizabeth Smart was, and to find were
kidnapper place Elizabeth. And they need some evidence that
will prove who are the real kidnapper

Faces of devil in the story

Brian David Mitchell presented himself in an image that was
similar to the image of Jesus, dressing in white robes and tunics,
and growing a beard.
Wanda Ilene Barzee
