THE PROBLEM AND IT’S BACKGROUND

Introduction

Innovation occurs as time passes by. Every second, there’s a new technology

transformed or created. As one of it, our mode of payment develops also. From being on

a long queue into a machine operated teller. The reason why it transforms is because of

us. People demand something better. That’s the reason why we have that kind of

technology nowadays.

Today era, millennial, are using more technology. A technology which attracts the

eyes of people, especially, students. It tends to be a little bit easier to use and it fits the

wants of the minds of the students to explore new things. Over the past few years there is

an improvement in the field of payment. Constant change in our technology is one of the

reason why there’s an improvement.

We can’t deny that if there’s no improvement in our technology, maybe the

system may stick to its traditional way and can create inconvenience. For example on

paying center, if the system continues that way and the number of users of it increases,

problem may occur.

Prepaid cards, credit cards, debit cards, can help consumers to save their time.

Many things can be done by that. As a result, this can be used by many especially to

those people who are always in rush just like students.

Background of the Study
STI just partnered with Paymaya Pilippines, Inc. to give students with an

advanced and unique school ID system. By that, researchers have agreed to conduct a

study about the new Paymaya ID and how it is convinient as a form of payment for

tuition.

This new STI student ID allows access to security turnstiles everytime the

student enters or exits the school, it can also be a medium as a prepaid debit card which

students or parents can use in online and in-store shopping that credit VISA card

payments here and abroad. According to Meriam Webster, debit card is like a credit card

by which money may be withdrawn or the cost of purchases paid directly from the

holder’s bank account without the payment of interest. With the uniqueness of it, and as it

fits the need of STI students.

This new STI student ID is not just focusing on payment but also you can

link the STI student ID to the PayMaya mobile app so that it shares one wallet with the

virtual card , now you can also view your transactions in-app. PayMaya Philippines

Inc.manage by and holds an electronic money license from the Bangko Sentral ng

Pilipinas(BSP).
Statement of the Problem

The advancement in technology today has revolutionized our daily lives and has

made its way into revolutionizing how we make purchases as well as bank transfers.

Debit Cards came out of the said innovation and its sole purpose is to replace cash when

making purchases, it is similar to a Credit Card but the only difference is that the Debit

Card makes its transactions directly from the user’s Bank Account.

This research’s main focus is to assess the advantage and disadvantages of using

Paymaya, a new form of payment which is a Prepaid Card where you load up with cash

from its partners, unlike the Debit Card and Credit Cards this mode of payment is not

alligned with your Bank Account and does not borrow money when performing

transactions. The result will be used to create a Video in which would disseminate our

findings in this study.

Significance of the Study:

The findings, which this study have, will benefit the senior high students of STI-

College Global City and future researcher. As supposed, this study is hoping to acquire the

information the researchers need to satisfy the statement.

The researchers will conduct this study to help the students know the advantages

and disadvantages of using Paymaya as a mode of payment.

We are now living in the digital world and that almost everything can be done with

just a few clicks. As a millennial, living on a place where technology matters, this study

will help them to distinguish various information to help them in their everyday needs.

In addition, this study will determine what is more preferred by the students either

modern way like credit or debit cards on the traditional way when we need to go and spend

money to go the nearest Bayad Center just to pay bills.

Another thing, this research will assist the students on evaluating Paymaya if it is

convenient for them to use it as a mode of payment.

 Lastly, this study will help future researchers, as this will be a good and useful

source of information and be their guide for future researches. Aside from being source of

information, this study can be one of their content for their review of related literatures.

Hypothesis

On this study, the researchers have proven that Paymaya is more beneficial to

SHS students of STI College Global City and more convenient to use. It is also accessible

and a lot easier to pay than using other mode of payments and it is not time consuming.

Based on the data gathered, the researchers had been convinced that Paymaya provides an

easier way to pay bills.

Scope and Limitations

This research is to assess the advantage and disadvantage of using Paymaya as

mode of payment. This study will only focus on the Senior High School STI College -

Global City.
