> the philosphy and central practices of Taoism focus on Universal, and peaceful principles such
as living with harmony in nature and natural order.
> Taoist believes that huamn kind in nature and heaven are all interconnected and harmony
exists when everythings acts according to its nature.

> father of Taoism
> author of "Tao Te Ching" means. The way of life
= a concise and ambiguous book containing the teachings attributed to Lao Tzu
 ETHICS
1. Tao and Te
 Tao = means way or path but can also be interpreted as road and channel
 Te = virtue, inner power and integrity
2. Wu-wei = the art of doing nothing
= action through non-action
3. naturalness = regarded as a central value in Taoism. Ot describe the premodial state of all
things.
4. Three Treasures- basic features of Taoism
a. compassion
b. moderation
c. humility
 Lao Tzu believed that everything alive in the universe, all had a universal life-force
 2 sides of life force are "Yin" and "Yang" = considered the sources of existence and non-
existence

- cold - warm
- weak -strong
-earth; moon - heaven; sun
