Calibre™ 16I-8OC-8OR

16 Balanced Line Input, 8 Open Collector and 8 Relay Output Module

> Board Size and Mounting options

o PCB to be 200mm by 100mm.
o PCB to be on pillars, bare card only. Sufficient 6mm Ø holes for
standoffs to be used to prevent excessive board flex when pulling
off and pushing on connectors. PCB thickness???
o DIN rail mount optional extra. (Not required if this adds cost to
the basic board).

> Connector options

o Connectors to be two-part, pin mounted on PCB with mating
screw connector to terminate 1mm2 wiring.
o Connectors to be similar to RS Components 468-0953.
o Modbus connector to be unique.

> Power Supply

o 15V/AC from transformer (Voltage to suite commercially available
transformers) or 24VDC.
o Reverse power connection protection.
o Battery charge and power fail circuit.
Ability to support remote battery, charge and supply.
Battery float level 13.85VDC. Recharge time to be suitable
for a 7 ampere hours gel cell battery.
 Reverse power connection protection.
 Battery voltage to be monitored.
If battery voltage falls below 12.2V set alarm.
Battery test sequence to be enabled by controller (for
implementation later but hardware required).
Drop input voltage to 11.2V
Switch battery across know load (120R, 100mA) for
15 minutes.
Monitor voltage per 500mS.
If mains lost at anytime abort test.
All safety bypasses to be enabled if battery fails under test.
Analogue regulator maybe required due to issues with
Switch mode and battery charging (High frequency heating
effects)
o 5V logic supply.
o 12V, 1.5A fused supply for PIR sensors brought out to xx
terminals.

> Battery Charging Logic

o When a discharged gel cell is connected, the charger goes into a
fast charge mode at a fixed rate of 400 mA. After detecting that

the voltage is levelling off or when 4 1/2 hours has elapsed,

(which ever happens first.) the fast charge will stop. After the
fast charge has ended, the gel cell goes into a trickle charge rate
of about 50 mA. This trickle charge continues until 13.8 volts is
reached, then all charging current is stopped since the cell is now
fully charged.
o If the cell voltage should drop below 13.8V then go into trickle
charge (50mA).
o If the cell voltage should drop below 12.2V then go into fast
charge (400mA). Note: This also sets the alarm condition.

> 16 individual balanced line inputs to NZ4301 1983 part 2.

o 4 state inputs detecting open circuit, short circuit, alarm and
balanced conditions.
o Vcc to be separate 5V regulated supply. This supply should also
be the reference for the ADC so that effectively we are looking at
a ratio (potential divider) not an absolute voltage.
o 2 terminals per input, +Vic and 0V.

o Response time of 100mS to 500mS. Configurable to suit site.

System Note: Time of generation of signal to the programmed
action to be less than 1 second at system level.
o Time stamping. PLC to send down time every hour. Board to
keep log of events.
o Ability to map input directly or inverted to an output for zero
delay switching.

o Ability to mask inputs so only active inputs appear in the “Report

by Exception” register. (Concept for later version).

> 8 Open Collector Outputs

o 7off 12V 50mA? Open Collector outputs from ULN2003A or
equivalent.
o 1off 12V 1A open collector output.
o Outputs to remember current state in communications failure.
o Suppression diodes for inductive loads.
o One plug for quick installation, maintenance for all outputs with
common return.

> 8 Relay Outputs.

o Separate relay 5A @ 30VDC, 250VAC 5A resistive relays with
change over ability for N/O and N/C. Normal state of relays OFF,
On to Unlock.
o Relay to remember current state in communications failure.
o Each relay has separate 3 terminal plug for quick installation,
maintenance and diagnostics.

> Full LED diagnostics on communications, power, processing status, inputs

and outputs.
>
Name: LED Colour Description:
Communications Yellow Flashing to show bus activity.
Power, AC in Green On when AC present.
Processing Status Green WATCH Dog, flashing when working.
Input (16off) Red On when NOT in BALANCE state.
Output from microprocessor.
Output, Open Collector Green On when sinking current.
Output, Relay Green On when relay coil sinking current.

> RS485 MODBUS RTU communications (slave)

o Direct connection to the LAN.
o Addressing by 6 bit DIP switch (63 addresses). This allows for
easier installer and post identification of board.
o Baud rate by 2 bit DIP switch.
0 = 9,600 Baud
1 = 38,400 Baud
2 = 57,600 Baud
3 = 115,200 Baud

o 8 bit data, Even Parity, 1 Stop Bit.

o Termination and biasing link for LAN. 2 bit DIP switch or jumpers.

o Future developments require a multi-master bus to allow report

by exception. Only send the status of nominated events

> Firmware to be upgradable. In-Circuit Serial Programmer or equivalent.

> Power Up Conditions

o On Power-up the system will revert to it’s default state as
follows:
 All outputs in Off state.
 No input mapping.
Need to write defaults in here
