CHAPTER 5

5.1 SIGNIFICANCE OF THE STUDY

The significance of the study is a initiation of a research. It shall regulate who benefits
from the research and how the specific group of the research will gain from the
findings. The reason we decided to begin with this research is to find out how males
and females express their emotions. Is it the same or in a different way? This study
will benefit genders from expressing their emotions in a better way. Why? Because for
all their life they have been facing this outlook on how they should express their
emotions. This study is done to set a new mindset on how males and females should
express their emotions. This study have given a new mindset towards other people
that males can express their emotions instead of hiding it because of the toxic
masculinity. In our study, it can be shown that some males do express their emotions
differently compared to what other people think what males do to express their
emotions. In this research, we have gained that callous-unemotional traits and brain
structure differs between males and females. This study will help males and females
to not develop mental health problems in the future because of this toxic mindset of
people. The importance of this study will also help boys to express their emotions in a
better way and healthier way for them to grow and develop in the future.

Males and females are always expected to express their emotions very differently. For
instance, males should not cry and females will cry when they are facing problems.
This is very unhealthy for both genders as it sets an unacceptable perspective on how
they should develop their emotions in the future. In this study we have also found that
males and females do not actually vary in responding emotionally . On this
perspective, obvious gender differences in emotional reactions are a figment of an
imagination that is developed by stereotypes that are so universal that they did some
prejudice on participants’ reports of their own and others’ emotional responses. Lastly,
our research will provide advantages and benefits for students in Uitm Rembau and
also outsiders as well to not look to have some justification towards the emotions
between males and females instead from looking at a narrow perspective. In this study,
we have also gained information that males express their emotions not that different
with females as well. Our research is very significant in changing the outlook of other
people towards their bias in gender differences in their emotions. We need to change
our view on this issue and not let the stereotype mindset infests our minds. We need
to evolve and change along with the world. We also need to accept that males and
females can express their emotions differently too and not to look at the standard
viewpoint that the world is looking to in this moment. The targeted groups will have
an advantage on how to handle their emotions without worrying about their genders
and the standard image on how they should manifest their feelings. Based on the
questionnaire, we questioned about the statement of “men cry too”. And 100 percent
of our audience voted yes.

This shows that the outlook that men cannot cry can be proven wrong based on the
responses. In another question, we also asked our audience how males express their
dissatisfaction? The highest number of responses is by distracting themselves. This
can be shown that it beats the act of males exposes their anger and can be proven that
not all males will express their anger when they are facing dissatisfaction. The
responses towards our question which is how would you know she is not in a good
mood, a majority of the responses showed that females will keep quiet. Lastly, for our
question which is do you think that females and males react to emotion differently. A
majority of our audience voted yes which means that males and females really do
react differently when it comes to their emotions. To conclude, we have that our study
will have a greater chance to benefit males and females when they want to express
their emotions instead of being told how to express it in their way as followed by their
gender.
