 I was taking over an Analytics project in the middle- Reporting for Finance client. Strong
resistance from Team leads as project was moved from one Project manager to me. Winning
Trust by empowering the Team leads-Due share in decision making process and feedback on
team dynamics. Let them lead and be the forefront while rewarding individual team
members. Regular reward and recognition target for teams
 I want my team to have their work life balance. One team had issues while doing the PMO
implementation project. Scope creep case- Discussions with the client team to resolve the
scope change issues in the project while still retaining the relationship.
 Emotional intelligence – change in project processes – understanding the emotions of the
individual and empathize with him.

Negotiation skills
 Resource competency – Training and level of expertise for the project- Requesting SAS based
resource on the project however the evaluation by team leader and revealed that the
competency level is low. Portfolio manager- importance of the project success for that
account and the feedback from the tech lead- Not accepted as another project needed him.
Mentoring of the current SAS personnel and handholding -10% of his time, review and
monitor.
 ABAP competency – either to be an external consultant or a permanent position. I argued
for a permanent role so that there can be inhouse training and building confident results.
Organization had concerns about the long term and post project compensation. We were
able to make pitches to multiple clients and build a Abap practice was a convincing answer
and they recruited a permanent employee.
 Oil price downfall - Project closure- Negotiation with the client on the facts. Deploying PMO
solution. Trying to understand his pain points and appealing to his value proposition.
Increasing the value of the deal proposed a licencing based fee which was comfortable with
the client

Valuing diversity
 Team’s Language. Usage of local language during team meetings. – rephrasing and
paraphrasing in the common language. This gradually made meetings more professional an
people started picking up the common language- 2 pronged approach, engage with the team
leads on the importance of using common language and leading the team by example.

and helping team focus on smaller bites- helps structure the problem and solve it one by
