I. OBJECTIVES
At the end of the lesson, the students should be able to:
a. Define declarative, interrogative, imperative and exclamatory sentence;
b. Differentiate the sentences according to use;
c. Identify the sentences according to use in each of the given sentences;
d. Construct their own sentence through the use of the four kinds of sentences.

1. Discussion
“SENTENCES ACCORDING TO USE”
a. Declarative Sentence- used to make statement, to state a fact and always end with
a period (.)
Example: I have a basketball game tonight.
I just finished reading that book.
b. Imperative Sentence- used to state a command or request. It ends with a period. (.)
Example: Please go to the store and buy some milk.
Please report to the Mayor’s office.
c. Interrogative Sentence- used to ask question. It ends with a question mark (?)
Example: Have you ever read this news paper?
Are you interested in that book?
d. Exclamatory Sentence- used to express strong feeling. It ends with an exclamation
point (!)
Example: Ouch! You hurt me!
Yehey! We won the game!
