The Relationship of Academic Motivation and the University Students’ Attitude toward

Learning

The research study aims to examine the Relationship of Academic Motivation and the
University Students’ Attitude toward Learning. It used relational survey model design and
obtained a sample population among university students using stratified sampling. The study also
utilized 2 scales, the Attitude toward learning scale and Academic Motivation scale, in determining
valid results. According to the results of the study, the female group has a moderately positive and
meaningful relationship towards learning and academic motivation. It was also found out that
there was no significant difference in academic motivation and attitudes towards learning in terms
of school type. It was then concluded that there was a positive correlation between the intrinsic
and extrinsic motivation and academic motivation. Furthermore, there was a low and negative
correlation between amotivation and academic motivation.

From the above abstract, the aim of the research paper is clearly stated. The parts are
properly summarized and findings and conclusion are also stated as well. The pieces of information
included are efficient and straightforward.

Introduction is one of the most important parts of a research paper. A catchy starter is
essential to a research paper that could grab the attention of the reader. The introduction of this
paper clearly gives an overview of what the problem is. The researcher started on how motivation
affect student learning He continued to its importance and also injected several literatures to
support the background of the study. But aside form the strong points of the introduction, the
researcher should have included his “felt need” of the study. Specifying what triggered him to do
the research. Perhaps, mentioning personal experience would give the study more meaning.

The research design is discussed effectively. As a reader, I can automatically understand


that the paper is a quantitative research. The researcher also chose the most appropriate sampling
technique for the study and the data gathering technique is also well described. Moreover, the
presentation of the tables and use of the correct statistical tools are efficient.
The findings of the study are clear and well- presented. They are parallel to the statement
of the problem. Tables are simple and easy to read and understand. the researcher did well in
adding literature at the end of each table. But it would be better if the indicators of the scale are
analyzed one by one so that the reader would know the indicators under nature of learning,
openness, anxiety and the like. It will add more sense to the reader to what are the answers of the
respondents.

And lastly, as for the conclusions, it was well reiterated. The results and findings are given
credits. It was very comprehensive and understandable. Just by reading the conclusion gives you
an idea of what are the results of the study. The researcher also added several literatures to back
up the findings of the study thus making it more valid.

In total, the research journal is well written. The research title, statement of the problem,
findings and conclusions are matched. The researcher did not deviate from the main purpose of
the study and most importantly, all questions are answered.
