I. Company Name

The company’s name is Kanin sa Silangan located at SFC 3rd floor, room 303.

The name’s conception was inspired by the university’s Filipino name equivalent:

Pamantasan sa Silangan. Kanin, which is the Filipino word for rice, is the company’s

staple product.

II. Company’s Mission and Vision

Mission:

It is our mission to provide a quick, clean and accessible rice meal, in a budget-friendly

price, to the people of University of the East. This includes making the meal packed

heavy to satisfy scholarly appetites, without punching a large hole in their wallets.

Vision:

To make each customer of Kanin sa Silangan experience optimism through our bright

service, good food, and friendly budget.

III. Operation Highlights

On July 12, 2017, Kanin Sa Silangan opened its business to the anticipation of many

customers. The people were thrilled to have their lunches delivered to them, with no

added fee, and with a very affordable price.

The company’s first product, Hotdog Rice, is discontinued due to its failure to gain profit.

Other menu attempts, such as Chicken Fillet Rice, Longganisa Rice, Drumstick Rice, is

also discontinued, the day it received unpopular views among customers.

Kanin sa Silangan closed production on September 29, 2017.

IV. Department Performance

 Marketing Department

 Each rice meal is sold depending on the menu of the day. The menu was derived

from the previous survey as well as from the customer’s popular votes. Our Silog

meals (Tocilog and Tapsilog), Burger Steak, Chicken Nuggets, and Giniling was

sold at P35.00, while our Fried Siomai rice meal was sold at P30.00.

 Our marketing staff used interpersonal selling skills using personal selling as their

primary marketing strategy.

 The Marketing Manager communicates with the Production Manager before the

week starts to help form the menu to the customer’s desires. Within the third

week of July, our company fixed the weekly menu with our bestsellers; The two

Silog meals, Burger Steak, Chicken Nuggets, and Giniling.

 To formulate accountability and efficiency when it comes to selling the Rice

Meals, the Marketing Manager divided her team into groups of 2-3 during selling.

 The company sold the products in the entire university in different levels through

the use of direct selling.

 Production Department

 Being aware of the minimum 111 quota, the production team makes sure they

made the exact meals each day. However, if the company had not reached the

everyday quota, they were able to recompense for it in the following days.

 Job rotation was employed by the members to enhance their skills in different

fields of work.

 To ensure superior quality in the product, quality control was strictly inhibited

among the production team.

 Human Resource Department

 Penalty for absences and lateness was strictly employed by the Human Resource

Manager to discipline each member.

 The members were able to limit their absences through the over-all operation.

 Finance Department

 All reimbursements due to transportation and the purchase of raw materials must

be made with a copy of the receipt. Strict adherence to this was successfully

carried out by the finance department.

 Payments to reimbursements and transportations were made before depositing

sales, since the company buys in bulk weekly. However, these were recorded by

the financial manager.
