5 Highway to perform basic CAD drawings - cross sectrion/ gradient

To understand implications of Right of Way considerations on ongoing works
to familiarise with the types of and properties of Horizontal curves
to familiarise with the types of Superelevation of curves

to note the functions of Curbs, shoulders, barriers
to perform a basic design from beginning to print out

6 Structure/Drainage
To familiarise with hydraulic/hydrologic considerations for culverts, box and bridge
To identify the different types of structures on the project site
To familiriase with the planning and design process used to select the structures on site
To familiarise with material ,loads and design safety used on site
To determine suitability of the foundation
To familiarise with the different types of concrete systems to deal with tension(reinforced concrete and
prestressed)
To familiarise basic foundation/ piling / sheeting calculations for identified box on project road
To familiariset basic reinforced concrete box calculations: pier/ abutment / deck
To familiarise basic foundation calculations for identified bridge on project road
To familiarise with basic reinforced concrete bridge calculations: pier/ abutment / deck
To familiarise with basic prestressed deck bridge calculations:
To draft and detail sample pier/ deck/ abutment structural steel details

Note
1 Work Hours
Normal Working hours shall be as follows:
Weekdays: Morning-8a.m to 1a.m- Afternoon -2a.m to 5p.m
Saturdays: 8a.m to 1 a.m
Application for day offs/leave should be made to the MFO

2 Deliverables by trainees shall be:

a Presentation (to be presented to the Engineer in Charge/ DPD)
monthly presentation - 15min
b Report (to be forwarded to the Engineer in Charge/ DPD)
-weekly, Monthly report
- Final
3 The site administrator shall be responsible for ensuring attendance/ reports are submitted
4 Facilitation
The Trainee shall be provided the following:
a Desktop Computer/laptop (Based on site)- to be returned after program
b Writing Material
-Pen/ Pencil
-Note Pad
-Box Folder
5 Clothing
Personal Protective Clothing(PPE)- Helmet, Reflective clothing, boots, Dust Coat
6 Transportation

a Office
The trainee shall accompany the senior engineer during inspection of site
b Site
The trainee shall work with the RE's staff and use the RE vehicles during site inspection
c Outside work hours

The trainee shall not be permitted use of a project vehicle outside work hours unless in the presence of a senior engineer
