The Difference of Coaching Efficacy between School Level and University Football Players

1.1 Background of Study

- This study related to school level and university football players

- This study was designed to describe athletes’ perceptions of coaches’ efficacy towards athletes of a
different level of educational.

- The coach’s efficacy influenced the athlete’s performance and the speed of learning, which in turn
affected the athlete’s self-esteem, motivation and performance expectations, and, ultimately, their
achievements.

 IV and DV
- The difference of coaching efficacy and Differences in school level and university football
players.
- Self-evident of coaches, a good coach is responsible for supporting physical, mental,
technical and tactical development of athletes, so that they can achieve their highest goals
(Siekanska, Blecharz, & Wojtowicz, 2013).
- Coaches and relationship, if a teacher believed that a student was gifted, their behaviour
changed (e.g., the teacher was more attentive to students, provided them with extra
practice and motivated more than others). In turn, the students tried to conform to the
teacher’s expectations, and as a result showed bigger gains in their achievements.
(Siekanska et al., 2013)
- Type of coaches, in the context of sports, different types of coaches may exist with regard to
their personality traits, coaching experience, age, educational level, leadership style. As
coaches differ in their personality, competencies, qualifications, communication skills,
motivational structure, leadership behaviours, etc., they may also influence the athlete’s
motivation differently. Coaches’ behaviour is predicted to be influenced by their persistent
orientations, predominant motivation, situations in which they work, and by their
perceptions of their athletes’ motivation. (Barić & Bucik, 2009).
- Extrinsic and Intrinsic, the concept of intrinsic motivation, which reflects individuals choosing
to engage in activities for the pleasure that they bring the controlling aspect of rewards
(extrinsic motivation) decreases intrinsic motivation. (Charbonneau, Barling, & Kelloway,
2001)

1.2 Statement of the problem

- How does the coaches’ behaviour affected the two difference level of football players?

- What is the best quality that been needed in coaching style towards these football players?
1.3 Research Question

RQ 1: What is the coaching style on the difference of football players in school and university
level?

RQ 2: What is the level of coaching efficacy show on the football player in school and university?

RQ 3: What is the relationship of coaching efficacy and athlete performance that showed
between school and university football players?

RQ 4: What is relationship of coaching behaviour and athlete performance that showed between
school and university football players?

1.4 Research Objectives

RO 1: To identify the coaching style on the difference of football players in school and university
level.

RO 2: To identify the level of coaching efficacy show on the football player in school and
university.

RO 3: To determine the relationship between coaching efficacy and athlete performance that
showed between school and university football players.

RO 4: To determine the relationship between coaching behaviour and athlete performance that
showed between school and university football players.

1.5 Research Hypotheses

Ho 1: There is no relationship between coaching efficacy and athlete performance that showed
between school and university football players.

Ha 2: There is relationship between coaching efficacy and athlete performance that showed
between school and university football players.

Ho 1: There is no relationship between coaching behaviour and athlete performance that


showed between school and university football players.

Ha 2: There is relationship between coaching behaviour and athlete performance that showed
between school and university football players.
1.6 Significance of the study

- These study is to show the coaches efficacy between both school and university football
players.

- These study also help the other coaches to know the differences of coaching technique and
strategy to handle the two different level of football player in school or university students.

- These study also help the other athlete from to different level school and university to
determine the coaches’ behaviour and efficacy of their coaches towards their performance in
the future.

- These study also will help the new coaches to make sure they know how to handle these two
different levels in coaching efficacy and to make sure their athlete performance is stable
towards them coaching technique.

1.7 Delimitations

- Sample size of study is consist one team member of school football players and university
football players for about 30 participants.

- Age of respondent is divided by school level (form 1-5) and university level (18 and above)

- All respondents are male.

- All participants are willing to participate and sign the informed consent form.

- Healthy people

- Time consist of 5-10 minutes include briefing.

1.8 Limitation

- Poorly describe the participant differences in choices.

- Failure to demonstrate or comparison groups.

- Differences in measurement of choices.

- Commitmet of correspondent

- Time management

- Environment problem

1.9 Definition of Terms

- In these study the term of efficacy is refer to the coaches’ behaviour, affectability and
motivational structure that showed towards their athlete although in school or university. In other
words for efficacy is used in pharmacology and medicine to refer both to the ‘maximum response
achievable from a pharmaceutical drug in research settings’, and ‘to the capacity for sufficient
therapeutic effect or beneficial change in clinical settings’.
