What is freedom? I do not know if I am sure of what freedom is yet.

I believe that I have freedom, but

am I really free? Freedom is one of the most important things a person can have. But the question is
even though we think we are free, do we really have freedom? And if we do not have any freedom at
all, if things are predetermined, then how can we be held responsible for our actions? For example,
we are not held accountable for obeying the laws of gravity. Freedom generally means the absence
of all unreasonable restraint. But isn't this a little bit general?

Freedom is defined from different aspects ,and according to different cultures, freedom varies
from culture to another. Some define freedom as a natural right, the human being is born
with.Everyone wants to be free and independent from others.Freedom is the right to do what
one wants, live where he wants, eat what he wants, learns what he wants, and chooses the
religion in which he believes, without ignoring or harming other rights.

Morality is an easily confusing concept. It is not as simple as saying morality is choosing what is good
over what is bad. This is because what is “good” would vary differently from person to person. To some,
it would mean always following all the rules, laws, and whatever is laid down by a higher authority. They
would be following the letter of the law but they might not actually be following the spirit of the law.
Others would think it would be good to avoid being punished. They will only follow morality, do good
and avoid evil because they would fear punishment. That would be missing the value and purpose of
following morality, which is to become more like God, and what He meant us to be.

God created us in His own image and likeness. He granted us our sense of free will in order for us to be
more like Him. I believe this is the most important part that comprises our morality. It is because of our
free will that we have the capacity of doing evil even though God created us out of His goodness.
Because we have our own free will, we tend to place ourselves in the highest priority. That is why when
faced with a choice, we often make the decision that would benefit us the most, with less regard to its
implications on others. We can ignore the greater good in favor of our own personal benefit because it
is our free will that lets us decide between doing good or evil. Without our sense of free will, we would
have no need for morality. We would be like mindless drones programmed for one purpose only. There
would be no need for morality because our choices would have already been decided upon. Instead of a
robot that does whatever you tell it to do, I think someone who follows you of their own free will is
more precious. Even more so if that someone used his free will not to benefit himself, but for the good
of others. Therefore, there is greater meaning in the good choices we freely make.

No one starts out with a perfect sense of morality. Even Jesus might have had to learn what is good,
growing up as a child before He began His divine mission. This is because our sense of morality is
something to be developed through our life, to nurture and grow into something that will not only
blindly continue doing good and avoiding bad, but also understand the reason for our actions.
