CHAPTER 4

PRESENTATION, ANALYSIS AND INTERPRETATION OF DATA

Demographic Profile of the Respondents

In Table 1.1, majority of the respondents (79 out of 150 or 53%) are female while
males were only 71 or 47 percent.
This may be explained through the society role because Females are more concerned
in their academic performance than male and this can lead to level of their self esteem. Males
have high self esteem than female.
Self-esteem is higher in men than in women (Kling et al.,1999) and that self-esteem
increases from adolescence to middle adulthood (Orth & Robins, 2014).

In Table 1.2, most of the respondents are aged 17 years old with 92 out of 150 or 61%.

The least respondents were aged 19 years old.

This only shows that the majority of the respondents are relatively in their adolescence.

It also implies that those respondents who aged 17 years old might have had concerned in their

academic perfomance. For possible reasons, many men today failed but has high self esteeem

and women are more concern in having a good grades.

Relating this, men tend to have higher self-esteem than women and (b) that both men

and women show age-related increases in self-esteem from late adolescence to middle

adulthood. In fact, these two effects are now considered some of the most well-established

findings in the self-esteem literature (for reviews, see Huang, 2010; Kling, Hyde, Showers, &
Buswell,1999; Orth & Robins, 2014; Robins, & Trzesniewski, 2005; Trzesniewski, Donnellan,

& Robins, 2013).
