The brother and sister Abhishek and Anushka jump with joy when they see their favourite
Author Ruskin Bond enter the room.”What’s the secret of your beautiful stories?”Anushka
Asks.
“I don’t know” Bond says smilingly.”Different people write in different ways. It’s to do
with your personality. When I was younger, I wrote for adults. As I got older, I began
writing for children”. Everyone who has read Bond knows has been living in Mussorie for
many years. Abhishek asks him if there are other places he likes. “I like small towns .Even
in big cities there are quiet places”. Bond says.
Talking on reading trends among children over the years, Bond says, “When people of my
generation were growing up, there were no distractions like TV and internet. It’s the lucky
ones who like to read”.

After Bond autographs his book, Abhishek asks him if his good handwriting is courtesy his
boarding school days.”Yes” replies Bond and adds that he writes all his works by
hand.”The typewriter has retired”, he says.

Two very happy children leave the room after their meeting with Bond.
