The ancient literature is full of metaphors, allegories, similes and examples from the then
day to day life. A number of techniques, formulae and principles have been placed in
public domain, hidden in full public view. This is in line with the regulation that
knowledge should not be going to the undeserving. Sanskrit, with its linquistic strengths
has been of great import for this purpose. A secret would remain in public domain, cared
for like a family treasure, serving one purpose or the other , till an expert from the parent
discipline would come to decipher the original meaning and application . Some examples
of these secret revelations are the Ashta Siddhi Paddhati , the Shree Yantra , the Bhoota
Sankhya Niti , Khandan Mandan Procedure. Finding and deciphering these meanings and
applying these methods revealed therein to today’s life would allow us make immense
strides in our development and growth and will open up totally new dimensions of
research .

Main Paper
Introduction
The ancient literature is full of metaphors , allegories , similes and examples from the
then day to day life . A number of techniques , formulae and principles have been placed
in public domain , hidden in full public view . These techniques are explained in
symbolic form ; just the way we would explain a jet air plane to a six year old . The child
will be able to get the gist of the knowledge but would not be in a position to use this
knowledge unless and until it devotes time and effort to development of the symbolism .
Process
This process is in agreement with the regulation that knowledge should not be given to
the undeserving. It is okay if the knowledge perishes , but it is not acceptable that the
knowledge falls in wrong hands . In unworthy , immature hands the knowledge would be
abused. This may prove fatal to the entire mankind. This truth itself has been expressed
through the story of Ashwaththama in Mahabharata . Dronacharya taught him Brahmastra
though he was not mature enough to learn it . He used it out of fear when he had to fight
with the mighty Arjuna . Arjuna countered it with Brahmastra. The Brahmastra war
would have led to total annihilation. So both the warriors were asked to recall their
brahmastra. Arjuna successfully recalled his brahmastra, but Ashwatthama could not .
Then it had to be directed to the unborn pandava son – Parikshit . Today we see the same
principle being applied to guarding of nuclear technology. A nuclear weapon in wrong
hands would cause doom to the entire universe .
Sanskrit , with its linquistic strengths has been of great import for this purpose . A secret
would remain in public domain , cared for like a family treasure , serving one purpose or
the other , till an expert from the parent discipline would come to decipher the original
meaning and application . Some examples of these secret revelations are the Ashta Siddhi
Paddhati ( Octahedral Ability ) , the Shree Yantra , the Bhoota Sankhya Niti , Khandan
Mandan Procedure (Integrative Corroboration Method ) . Finding and deciphering these
meanings and applying these methods revealed therein to today’s life would allow us to
make immense strides in our development and growth and will open up totally new
dimensions of research .
We tend to glorify Vali for his physical prowess. We push his accomplishment with
regards to concentration , learning and ability to observe under the carpet , calling it a
boon . It is the other way round . He was so good at observing and imitating the enemy
that unless the enemy came up with something very novel , the enemy was sure to be
defeated . According to some researchers this also seems to be the reason as to why Shri
Ram avoided direct combat with him . Interestingly the Valmiki Ramayana itself does not
refer to any such boon being given to Vali .It is later day addition to justify the
unbelievable victories posted by Vali . He killed Mayavi and Dundubhi – both close
relations of Ravana and humiliated the mighty Ravana.
Ravana came underprepared to challenge him to a combat . Vali took advantage of his
own big body frame and lifted Ravana in his tail . He took Ravana all around the earth ,
tied up in his tail . At the end of the ordeal the mighty Ravana who was subdued and
humiliated at this show of strength meekly submitted for truce . Vali did not allow
Ravana to use any of his Shastras ( weapons ) or Astras ( magical powers ) thus more
than halving Ravana’s strength .
Octrahedral Ability
The second method I want to mention here is the noted Ashtasiddhi Paddhati or
Octrahedral Ability. Ashta siddhi method has been described at numerous places in
ancient literature . A number of characters from the ancient literature are said to have
been blessed with the Ashata Siddhis . Hanuman is said to be the giver of Ashta Siddhi
.Siddhis are considered to be spiritual, paranormal, supernatural, psychic or otherwise
magical powers ; abilities, and attainments that are the products of spiritual advancement
through sadhana (spiritual practices), such as meditation and yoga. Siddhi is a Sanskrit
noun which can be translated as "perfection", "accomplishment", "attainment", or
"success". By attaching spiritual and paranormal dimensions this method has been
successfully kept out of the purview of the all and sundry . It is a very powerful problem
solving method that can be used in corporate or social setting . The basics of this method
can be learned in two days’ time and then through repeated application , the individual or
corporate method can be honed to perfection for a particular entity in the given time ,
place and circumstances . The Ashta Siddhis or Eight Perfections or Octahedral Abilities
are namely 1.Anima-: reducing one's body even to the size of an atom 2. Mahima:
expanding one's body to an infinitely large size 3. Garima: becoming infinitely heavy 4.
Laghima: becoming almost weightless 5. Pra-pti: having unrestricted access to all place
6. Pra-ka-mya: realizing whatever one desires 7. Is.t.va: possessing absolute lordship and
8. Vas'tva: the power to subjugate all. In a theory paper we cannot do proper justice to
this method which is intensely practical and needs to be practiced to realize the results.
Example
When Hanuman went to Shri Lanka he extensively used this method. When he landed on
the beach of Shri Lanka he saw that Lanka was surrounded by big walls, well guarded by
Rakshasas. He made himself very small and went in through the keyhold of the main
door.He is said to have used the Siddhi of Anima. He made himself small and went
through the key hole of the main door. Once inside he mingled with the crowds to hear
what they were talking, where they were going, what they were generally doing thus
getting information about them and familiarizing himself about the people. By being one
of them he obtained unlimited access to all the information they had. This is the siddhi of
Prapti. Not only information, he had access to their resources, their habits and habitats.
This led him to the biggest building in the city, the royal palace. He entered the palace
and went to every room. In one room he found a very beautiful lady sleeping. She was
wearing heavy jewellery and nice clothes. He first thought that this could be Seeta but
then he realized that given her separation from Shri Rama she would not sleep so calmly
nor would she be wearing all ornaments. So the counter argument started. This palace is
the central place of all where this lady is sleeping, so Seeta is likely to be in an area
which is stark contrast to this one.To observe if any such area existed , he took himself up
in the sky making himself very large thus acquiring infinite vision which he used to spot
Ashokvan. He used the siddhi of Mahima and Laghima. He zoomed to Ashokvan and saw
a lady who was surrounded by female soldiers and realized that she was a captive and by
interpolation she must be Seeta. Again he used his siddhi to disguise himself as a
common monkey, whose cognizance nobody would take and approached Seeta. How did
he identify himself to Seeta, by showing the ring of Ram. Why was he carrying Ram’s
ring , as he knew from the beginning that he would be the one to find Seeta. This is called
the siddhi of Prakamya. In modern parlance we call it combination of positive thinking
and focused effort. The same siddhis can be translated into Corporate Problem Solving
Methods.
The advantage here is that culturally we all have had good exposure to Ramayan ,
Mahabharat and when such methods are explained we are able to find common ground
and identify ourselves easily with the method. It is not some alien method that is being
pushed onto you from outside but it is a kind of self realization that comes from within.
Thus not having to carry the additional burden of an external system , the internal genius
is free to come out and shine and corporate problem solving and leadership at the highest
levels becomes quite easy.
Conclusion
In conclusion , we can say that the Ancient Literature is culmination of
experiences and the realizations of Rishis Munis and Buddhas. It is
knowledge personified . It is intensely practical . Enumerated therein are
numerous methods which are as applicable today as they were thousands of
years ago. We need specialized knowledge of various technical, social and
scientific disciplines to enable us to decipher the knowledge presented
allegorically .
