Good morning candidates! Welcome to the (school) here in (location). (Show PPT)

I am your name, your Assessor for (qualification).

ATTENDANCE

Before anything else, I would like to know who are present today. Please sign the attendance
sheet and show me your admission slips. Thank you.

So there are 10 of you present today for the National Assessment.

May I acknowledge the presence also of the Assessment Center Manager, (name) and our
TESDA representative, (name). Good morning!

Please don’t be intimidated by their presence as they are here to oversee the proper conduct
or execution of the assessment, and not to assess you. Okay?

ACCOMPLISHED SELF-ASSESSMENT GUIDE

I have here your accomplished Self-Assessment Guide that indicating you can perform all the
units of competency enumerated in your qualification.

PREPARE CANDIDATE
Explain Purpose and Context of Assessment

The National Assessment is being conducted so that if you proved to be competent you will be
given a National Certification for your Qualification. This certification is recognized abroad
and can be used by those wanting to work in other countries. Also, the national certification
is used to be credited to your further studies or for promotion.

Today I am going to conduct the competency assessment for (qualification). (show PPT of
Competencies and focus on the Core)

The assessment will cover the Core Competencies. You will be assessed against the
competency standards to see if you all meet the requirements.

 Based on actual assessment, method plus time
My role as an Assessor is to gather all the evidences to help me in my decision.
ALLOWABLE /REASONABLE ADJUSTMENTS

There are things that are allowable during the assessment and be given reasonable
adjustments. If you have any health issues or conditions, physical disabilities, and any other
special needs that could affect your performance (like if you are left handed and you need a
left-handed arm chair), please let me know, and I will assist you. Also, if you have problems
understanding, communicating or expressing due to language barriers, let me know ahead of
time so we can resolve it the soonest possible time. Same thing with religion, if you think
what you are about to perform is contrary to your belief, we will make reasonable
adjustments, too. All of these are allowable because candidates should be treated equally.

DO’S AND DON’T’S

Let me start with the DON’TS: Don’t….


 leave the assessment area. Candidates are not allowed the premises of the training
center. If you need to eat, please go to the cafeteria of the training center.
 use of cellphones during the assessment; it should be in silent mode or turned off
 ask the assessor anything during assessment same thing with co-candidates
 give any information regarding the assessment processes.

RIGHTS AND APPEAL SYSTEM


I want to let you know that you have the right to appeal in case you are not convinced with
the results of you assessment or if you have encountered problems with the assessment
procedure that affected the assessment results. You may file a complaint and submit it to the
AC Manager within the day.

ISSUANCE OF COC
Your COCs will be issued within 7 working days and will be valid for 5 years.

ASSESSMENT PROCEDURES

First, are you all comfortable with the medium of instruction being used today? Do you have
any clarifications regarding the policies and rules mentioned earlier?

Before we start the assessment proper, those who need to use the men’s and ladies’ room,
they are located at the right side of the hall. So please do your thing before the assessment
proper.
Let’s start the assessment proper…..

Please be informed that the tools, equipment, and materials are provided for you by the
Training Center.

I would like to call on Candidate #1. Since we will start with the demonstration, please call
on your partner/teammates and let’s go to the Practical Work Area/ Lab. The rest of the
candidates, please proceed to the holding area and you will be called accordingly.

Let us start with the Demonstration. You are given 6 hours to finish the tasks. Here’s the
Specific Instructions for the task you are about to perform.

(Assessor observes while tasks are being undertaken, records and rate the performance of the
candidate---do not interrupt the candidate for reasons other than imminent danger or unusual
conditions)

When task is done…proceed to the next method of assessment…

Okay, since you’re done with your task, we will proceed to the next assessment, please go
back to the assessment area
Questioning. (Use questioning tool and rate answers)

Now, please answer the written test for (time). Please read the instruction carefully. You
may start now…..

Time is up, candidate #1, you may now wait at the holding area, while I finish my assessment
and call on the next candidate.

Next candidate: Call Candidate #2 and ask to perform same tasks…

Call on your partner/teammate and perform the tasks listed in the Specific Instruction. You
are to undertake the task for (time).

Please proceed to the Assessment area.

Assessor observes and records the outcome of the demonstration.

Let’s go to the next method of assessment and please go to the assessment area: Oral
Questioning (using the Questioning tool).

Please answer the written test for (time). Please read the instructions carefully before you
start.
Time is up. Please proceed to the holding area while I finish my assessments and decisions.
Feedbacking
For Candidate#1: Based on the results of your performance, you have undertaken all the
tasks within the required standards. However, I noticed that you missed to implement all the
necessary OHS on the first part of your demonstration. But since you were able to notice it
and quickly implemented it, I think, overall, you satisfactorily performed the tasks. And for
the oral questioning, though you took time to answer the questions, I think you have provided
the key words for the correct answers.

So, Congratulations Cnadidate#1, you are competent! So here’s your Competency Assessment
Results Summary (CARS), please sign it before I give to the AC Manager. Thank you and
congratulations again.

May I call on candidate #2. You did finish the tasks in time, however, you were not able to
meet the standard requirements for some units of the competency. I am sorry that you need
to further review and practice the learning activities to meet the standards of your
qualification. Anyway, you may come back for reassessment once you are ready and don’t
worry, you will only be assessed on the parts where you are found to be not yet competent.
Please sign the CARS. Thank you very much.
