INTRODUCTION

 An internship is a learning situation where the student has the opportunity to gain
the practical experience. When placed in this situation, students expand their
concepts of different organizational structures and different working relationship
within workplace.

 As a part of the internship it is must to make a detailed and elaborated report

describing the experiences and learning outcomes of the intern. As a part of my
BA-LLB integrated 5 years law program I did 4 weeks i.e. a month internship at
the Gujarat High court . However, we received very short period for attending
Courts as due to summer vacations in the Court, but we also attended a law
office of Mr. Krunal R.Sakena . The present report is a elaborated write-up
containing detailed experience and learning outcome from the internship. This
internship report also contains various phases and practical situation faced during
internship. Moreover the works allotted cases observed and other experiences
related to the High Court are also explicated in detailed.

 As a part of this internship I have visited High court and attended various case
proceedings and observed the case trials additionally also observed the
examination and cross- examination of witnesses.

 As a part of the internship journey there were numerous experiences and

situations faced, the original Court experience taught many unknown things with
ease. This experience was followed by experience of attending a Advocate's
office gave various challenges through which the learning became much more
exciting and challenging. However overcoming from all this period of internship
helped in understanding the actual working of the High Courts and how the case
proceeding are carried out.

8
 During this period I encountered with lots of cases . Moreover, another thing
which we noticed during this period of internship was about Court processes, we
noticed that actual Court processes differ, but ultimately there were many things
which learned from this internship.

 This report further in depth contains all the experiences and situation including
learning outcome from this period of 4 weeks i.e. one month of internship and
some experiences of working with a learned advocate.

ANALYSIS WITH INDIVIDUAL

 There were numerous new experience in this internship in the High Court which
was a life remembering experiences, through such experiences we learned a lot
which the bookish knowledge can never make us understand. As this is our fourth
internship, we are quite familiar with the and procedure of the High Court..I was
very unclear about the functioning and working processes of High Court,
thereafter with the passage of initial time I grasped many things and learnt many
of the some of the court processes.

 The Sir guided me with some of the procedure and I was carrying with me the
files and the board of the Sir's matter. I was supposed to tell the Sir about matters
in the different court rooms.

 I also observed the arguments and written submission presented by both the
lawyers and also the materials and supportive materials. The experience of sitting
in the Court and listening the arguments was very learning oriented sometimes
the judge even was to frustrated that they just gave and adjourned the matter if
there were any miscellaneous omissions by the advocate

 Moreover, after the Court hours I was visiting the firm and form there too I learnt
many things. Firstly I seen that how a Advocate's firm work. I encountered with
other staff and junior lawyers working in the firm.

 The experience of visiting and grasping the legal knowledge was a life changing
opportunity I acquired.

14
 We also visited various departments in the Courts and was also taught by the Sir
to use the E courts software for finding any matter in the lower court. It was also
noticed that the board were very lengthy and sometimes some matters even were
not called off. Sometimes I also travelled with the Sir (Advocate) to other small
talukas, such as Sanad, Gandhinagar etc. and also visited various other courts at
various places. Additionally I also attended various meetings with the Sir with
clients, other advocates which also proved to be very useful for the learning
purpose.

 The most important thing that I learned during my internship was if you want to
extract the most out of your internship, ask for work and don’t be afraid to ask if
you don’t understand something.
 People are more than happy to give you work and teach you how it is done. If you
wait for work to be given to you, you’ll end up sitting idle and learn nothing. The
law is not what we learn from our books, it is much beyond that. Internships are
an opportunity to apply the knowledge of the law practically.

 Another important lesson that I learned while I was interning under Mr. Saksana
was to have “patience”. As you know, they say, “Rome wasn’t built in a day.” It
takes time to get to the top. He once said: If you want to get noticed and be
successful you must have patience and while you’re at it keep on learning.
People are going to tell you that this job is not meant for you, WHY Law? Don’t
listen to them. Just do what you got to do, be confident about it and you’ll get
there.

15
LEARNING OF INTERNSHIP

COURT ETHICS: - The one of the important and necessary thing that is the court ethics,
way of behaving, way of treating the fallow advocate, way to treat juniors, way to argue
with the judge with giving due respect and showing politeness was learning outcome of
the internship. Various other court ethics as well as processes and working system of the
court.

HOW TO FILE AN APPLICATION: - There is a definite pattern or procedure to be

followed for filing purpose in the court, with the help of this internship, the process of
filing was learned and also where to approach for filing what to do court fees for filing or
for any other purpose etc. things was also the part of this experience of the internship
period.

HOW TO COUNTER ARGUES:- As stated above that I have notice the advocate
arguing on various matters, hence listing them I understand that arguing and counter
arguing is an art which a good lawyer possesses. This is the basic requisite art which a
good lawyer needs to be developed, the way to argue, what to speak, what not to speak
and how to cross examine, and encounter with judge, fellow lawyer etc.

LEARNING FROM THE OFFICE: - After the completion of the court I use to visit the
office, the office was fully loaded with all the latest books and the Legal Software. In the
office there were many legal softwares such as Supreme Court Cases (SCC), AIR,
Supreme Today, GLR, GLH The laws, etc. Additionally there was very good and rich
library covering all the books requisite for or in daily practice. There were also series of
AIR Manuals, SCC Manuals and all the Bare Acts. In the office working for 4 weeks
trained me with the procedure of working in a legal field and also learnt many things such
as filing, research of authorities, judgment, etc.

16
LEARN A LOT FROM THESE CLIENT MEETINGS.:-One thing you must always
remember while dealing with clients is to be always on their side, understand what they
are going through and to think from their point of view. Also, to survive in this field one
needs to have excellent relations with everyone (even if you don’t like them)

The internship also taught me a great deal of professional ethics. One must sympathize
with their clients and make sure that they are satisfied with the work. Working directly
under a Supreme Court advocate gives you an opportunity to learn more as you can
have his full attention. He advised us on how to deal with clients, how to be professional
about it and how to act in front of the Hon’ble Judges of the High Court.

There were times when I was given clerical work like typing and also, it used to get
monotonous as we only got research work related to Criminal matters. However, I was
lucky enough to get some drafting work and was asked to file a reply for a matter related
to Consumer Protection Act.

17
CONCLUSION

 At the conclusion of the internship you must give an evaluation of the

experience. This great experience is incomparable to other internship
experiences I had in the past. This report need not be long, but should
give an indication of the success or otherwise of the internship, particularly
in relation to whether the initial objectives were met. In review this
internship has been an excellent and rewarding experience. I have been
able to meet and network with so many people that I am sure will be able
to help me with opportunities in the future. One main thing that I have
learned through this internship is time management skills as well as self-
motivation.

 As a part of the internship journey there were numerous experiences and

situations faced, the original Court experience taught many unknown
things with ease. This experience followed by experience of attending an
Advocate's office gave various challenges through which the learning
became much more exciting and challenging.

 However, overcoming from all this period of internship helped in

understanding the actual working of the High Courts and how the case
proceeding are carried out. Moreover, this journey of the 4 weeks proved
to me as a golden opportunity as part of learning oriented studies.

 After the attending the Court I also visited the advocate office, which was
also a very amazing experience, in the office working for 4 weeks trained
me with the procedure of working in a legal field and also learnt many
things such as filing, research of authorities, judgment, etc.

 Therefore, this period of 4 weeks internship was a golden step towards the
emerging bright future in the field of law and proved to be very useful for
the learning purpose. In future attending practicing many more internship
18
will give a better and wide experience and knowledge and would be prove
as an opportunity for the better and the bright future.

 Though this time during internship, there was Summer Vacations in

between, inspite of this internship taught number of things and also gave
me new experiences.

 I am very appreciative of this opportunity and forever grateful to Mr. Krunal

R saksena for giving the opportunity to not work as an intern but also
enabled me to enhance my abilities and practical exposure to the field of
law.
