Harris #1461 Date: September 17, 2019 Subject: Club Envi (3439 McGehee Road) Sir, since January 2019 Patrol has responded to a total of (15) fifteen calls for service at Club Envi. There have been a total of (21) twenty-one criminal offenses reported at this location that included both property and persons crimes, some crimes were reported simultaneously on the same dates. Four of those offenses were assaults with a weapon to include three calls where gunshots were fired, the other one involved a knife. At least three people have been shot while at Club Envi (one shooting resulted in a homicide on 03/19/2019). Patrol officers are frequently responding to Club Envi with public safety concerns of violent and/or criminal activity based upon the frequent shootings and poor lighting conditions surrounding the business. The lighting conditions in the parking lot are pretty much pitch dark after midnight, due to Bishop Parker paying to keep the parking lights on until midnight while its neighbor, “Club Envi” only provides security strobe lights on the exterior of the building. I have spoken with the property manager of McGehee Village Shopping Center, Mr. Jack Thomas, regarding inadequate lighting in the parking lot during club hours and he advised that he would suggest for the property owners to improve the lighting conditions but I have not heard anything else ‘on that or seen any visible improvements. Although Mr. Thomas, keeps in contact regularly regarding other nuisance complaints surrounding the property. In addition to the shootings and one stabbing, occupied vehicles were shot into (05/27/2019 and 07/28/2019) and there has been a reported robbery at this location on 05/04/2019. Other reported crimes include (5) five vehicle burglaries where at least three had guns stolen out of the vehicles and the others were purses; there was also one report of an entire vehicle stolen from the parking lot. Due to the club being in close proximity of the Police Station (DPS South Central), patrons continue to visit this location disregarding the lack of illumination and life safety in the parking lot, not realizing that the Police Station is usually unmanned during the night shift hours due to officers and Supervisors being on the streets patrolling. According to the City of Montgomery's Tax and Revenue Office, Mr. Vencini S, Smith (334-224-3402) is the listed license owner of Club Envi. Ihave not been successful in making contact with Mr. Smith, although I have left a message for him to contact me regarding concerns about the lighting conditions and criminal activity at his business.
