The thought of fulfilling in an efficient and effective way, the mission of the Armed
Forces, towards the country, must begin to modify from its foundations, from the
initial process of formation of the Ecuadorian soldier or sailor.
The Joint Command of the Armed Forces (COMACO), through the Directorate of
Military Education, for 2018 launches the new Educational Model, which provides
a guide so that the different levels of education of the Armed Forces know how
to route the competences that each military must possess in their respective
degree and function.
“Different geopolitical scenarios and new forms of war are the current challenges
facing the Armed Forces of Ecuador (FF.AA.). For this it is essential - according
to María Fernanda Espinosa, Minister of Defense - to rethink the military role from
its bases: training ”(EL Telégrafo, 2014)
In 2018, the Joint Command of the Armed Forces, the highest military authority,
establishes an ambitious educational model, using four currents of thought
applied to education, some traditional and modern, which aim to create the
development of significant knowledge in the student body.
We see conductivism in the execution of those exercises that must be carried out
in a mechanized, instinctive way, where the soldier is not required to think, only
to act; as an example we can cite the act of standing firm when the National
Pavilion is being transported in front of it to be hoisted.
Symbolic interactionism is the soldier's daily life, since they are the symbols,
gestures and signs with which he communicates in different circumstances, and
they get a special meaning for him, such as a red flag hoisted in a shooting range
It means danger, men shooting.
And the Theory of social construction is used from the first day of training of a
soldier, at the time of cohesion to the norms of the military society.
In order to route this knowledge, this group of men needs a leader, someone
trained in skills such as leadership, instructor, administration, disciplined, values
practitioner and others who contribute to the proper routing of those knowledge
acquired by staff, the specialist in Mention, it's Sergeant.
In many military forces around the world, the Sergeant is that soldier with a high
hierarchical level in the troop, the one who performs liaison functions between
them and the officer, etc. This is why the Navy Crew School chooses to impart
the different areas of knowledge to the Course for the Promotion of Cabos to
Sergeants, who intend to cover the broad spectrum of knowledge that the future
Sergeant of the Navy of Ecuador must possess.
The skills and abilities that are acquired in the course of improvement of the future
Sergeant in the Navy's Crew School, employ competency learning, which they
intend through a modular system, to group in a coherent compendium those
knowledge that in a general way and in other specific ones, they intend to provide
the tools that will allow the future Sergeant to solve the different problems he will
face in fulfilling his duties.
