What is Announcement
- An announcement is a statement made to the public or to the media which gives information
about something that has happened or that will happen.
- An announcement is a written or spoken statement in public or formal words containing
information about an event that has happened or is going to happen so publicly people know
what, when, and where it is about.

Function of Announcement
An announcement is used for giving people some information of what has happened or what will
happen.

Generic Structure of Announcement

1. Stating Purpose: The text that contains what event will be held
2. Stating Day and Date: Day and Date realization. The text that contains when the event will
be held
3. Stating Place: The text that contains where the event will be held
4. Informing Sender: The text that contains name of the person who will be contacted

Language Feature of Announcement

 Using Simple Present Tense and simple future tense.

Kinds of Announcement

Class Meeting Competition

To all students
To celebrate the school anniversary on November 2019 the
board of student associations (OSIS) will hold some class meeting
competitions.
They are badminton, Basket Ball and Volly Ball. Each class
has to send representatives (teams) to join the class meeting.
The winner of competitions will receive the prizes on the
anniversary day;
Date : 5 – 9 November
Time : 08 – 11.00 a.m
Place : School hall
Registration will be held on 10th - 15th August at OSIS room.

Cancelation of JYJ Concert in Singapore

Dear fans and media

This is an official announcement to inform everyone that we have just been notified by
Cjes entertainment, the artiste agency of JYJ that they have decided to cancel JYJ World
Tour Concert in Singapore which is scheduled on 23 April 2011 at Singapore indoor
stadium.

It is with utmost regret that we have to accept this cancelation notice from the artiste
agency at this point in time. We have submitted the final plan for stage, seating and
ticketing for the agency’s approval so as to proceed with the official announcement on
ticked sale. These plans are in accordance with the regulations required by the authorities
in Singapore and the budget allocated for the concert. It most unfortunate that the plans are
not approved by Cjes and their decision is to cancel the concert. We respect the agency’s
decision and, with great regret, we are unable to change their mind but to accept this
unforeseen circumstance that is beyond our control.

We understand the disappointment as well as the inconvenience caused due to the

cancelation and we sincerely apologize- especially to the fans of JYJ

McMaster Mini-Med School
We hope that you enjoyed becoming McMaster Mini-Med Student in 2008 and welcome
you to become a student in 2009. The new seven week term will begin Tuesday, March 3,
2009 with classes following on March 10, March 24, March 31, April 7, April 14, 2009.

Registration will be occur on a first-come basis. As the response for the previous years was
tremendous, it is advised to register as soon as possible. After all the student spots are full,
all others will be placed on a waiting list and will be contacted as spots become available.

With registration fees participants receive :

 A received spot in the McMaster Mini-Med School Class 2009
 An “official” Mini-Med School tote bag
 An “official” Mini-Med School clipboard and pen
 An “official” Mini-Med School stadium blanked
