Job skills for the 21st Century (Human Resources Blog Entry)
In today’s competitive and complex job market people require not only their
specialized knowledge, but general abilities and qualities. We are not
defined by a position in a company, anyone can be a worker, an employee,
a manager or a leader and we are also perpetual learners, teachers and
evaluators. This is why we all need to be ready to assume every role, here
is a summary of literacies, competencies and qualities.

My Social and Cultural Experiences
Intro: My social experience was with my study of painting and design..
body: My social experience was with my study of painting and design.
It was before finishing my arts studies, my high school teacher wrote to me
that if I could collaborate with a charity work for low-income children.
It consisted of painting some classrooms of his school but with cartoons
and children's characters, since the classrooms were very ugly of painting
and there were no resources.
Even though I was very busy, I couldn't refuse and I agreed to do so.
Well, in that school I did my social work practices at school and I knew
how it worked and its economy.
Conclusion: This taught me that if one can do good deeds, without
receiving anything in return personal satisfaction is immense.
When the children arrived and saw all their painted classrooms, the
happiness of happiness was very beautiful, I also received the thanks of
the rector and my teacher.

My Life Project
What I think and feel: My life plan is ambitious; I am going to complete a university
major one day I what I am passionate about, what promotes my creativity and
inspires me. I will love my family and I am going to expand it. I will travel abroad
for a time, but I am going to buy a county house here in Colombia.
What I will do and have to do: In order to achieve my dreams, I have to get up
early and study hard, I will be disciplined and autonomous. I must choose the
right major for me, and I also need to find the right partner. I have to learn other
languages and get used to different people.
What I expect and need: I must save money, get a better job, know more about
other cultures and keep a positive attitude every day. I expect to be fulfilled as a
person in all my dimensions of being and I need to be healthy and to develop all
my skills, abilities and intelligence.

My life project
Thought: my life plan is normal; I will complete a university degree, in
what I like. Continue to share with my family. I will travel abroad because
I want to meet many countries with my parents, but before I go I will buy
a house.
Actions: to achieve my dreams, I have to get up early and study hard, I will
be disciplined and learn a lot about the plastic arts that is what I love, and I
also need to find the right partner. I have to learn other languages and get
used to different people in order to travel the world.
Necessities: I must save money, get a very good job, know more about
other cultures and do my best every day to reach my long-awaited
dreams. I hope to be realized as a person in all my abilities as a person
and I need to be healthy and develop all my best attitudes and aptitudes
as well as my intelligence.

Activity 3. Making a Change. Read a short biography about Rodolfo Llinás and his productivity and how he holds accountable formal
education. Think about your life in relation to productivity and accountability, respond the answers and record an audio for them.
Rodolfo Llinás Bio and Opinion on Education
Personal Productivity: Rodolfo Llinás select a Colombian neuroscientist.
He was born on December 16th, 1934 in Bogota, Colombia. He select his
MD from Universidad Javeriana in 1959 and his PhD in 1965 from Australian
National University. While he was still studying medicine, he select the
chance to travel to Europe where he select in some experiments about
electricity in the brain. After he select from medical school, he select to the
United States to work in the field of neurosurgery. He select disappointed
because that work did not have much to do with studying the brain. In 1962,
he select at the Marine Biological Laboratory in Massachusetts. Then he
select to Australia to do his PhD research. In 1966 he went to Minneapolis
and select there as an associate professor. His principal research is about
the biological origin of consciousness. Nowadays, he select in New York
and he select the chairman of the department of Physiology &
Neuroscience at the NYU School of Medicine. He select also a
neuroscience professor and continues teaching because he loves it.
Education Accountability: He thinks Colombian education is just as bad as
anywhere in the world, because it does not develop concepts, it rather
focuses on memorizing for a moment, not understanding, and that results
in forgetting really quickly. He says that one understands, one does not
forget and that is achieved with context-based learning. He says that the
government should invest more in education because it improves the
quality of individuals as people. He has tried many times changing
education’s methodology, but sees that there is not enough money
assigned to formal education. Teachers are not well-paid, society does not
appreciate teachers enough, schools do not have enough material to really
educate. If we have, as a society an awareness of all of this, we can actually
plan for an Educated Colombia.

I have never had a leadership job, but if I had it I would like to be a good
leader, understanding worker and humble.
 How are you productive in your personal and occupational life?
productive in my personal life taking advantage of every moment of my life
improving in my plastic arts and occupationally being a better person with
my kind, honest and companion co-workers.
 Who are you accountable to in your personal or occupational life?
I am responsible for my parents, for my own future and for the decisions I
make for my future, in my work I am responsible for some areas of my
center to keep them well and in order.
