LEAD Academy Board Statement on Termination of Dr. Nicole Ivey-Price

MONTGOMERY - This past Friday, Dr. Nicole Ivey-Price met with some members of the LEAD Academy
Board and a member of our education management team, and at that time, she was asked to resign
from her duties as the Principal at LEAD Academy. Over the weeks prior to this meeting, a number of
items had been brought to our attention that made it apparent that it was in the best interest of our
school to move in a different direction.

Our goal was to handle this separation in a way that was respectful of Dr. Ivey and her reputation, while
also causing as little disruption at LEAD as possible. But Dr. Ivey’s decision yesterday to publicly make
misleading and disparaging comments about LEAD made our attempt at an amicable resolution
impossible. Because of that, tonight we have taken action to terminate our relationship with her.

Let us be absolutely clear - LEAD Academy is in full compliance with our charter contract and the rules
and regulations of the state of Alabama. If there were any compliance issues that Dr. Ivey felt needed to
be addressed, she did not bring them to the attention of the Board. As of the end of September, LEAD
Academy has met all the milestones required by the state of Alabama as laid out in our charter contract.

Since this meeting last Friday, there have been a number of baseless and false allegations made about
LEAD Academy. Everything we do at LEAD Academy is aimed at making sure that our students are
engaged and educated at a high level and at no time have any students been unsafe or unsupervised. As
disciplinary issues arise, they are handled by our administrative team, just like any other school.

We will continue to respond to any and all concerns of parents, students and teachers, but we will not
be in the business of responding to anonymous and baseless attacks. While there are those who, by
falsehoods, half-truths and innuendo, seek to destroy the reputation of LEAD Academy, our primary
focus will continue to be on the work of educating students.
