and word. Let them form a new word by changing the first
letter of the word.

another word by changing the initial phonemes to make
another word out from the given pictures. So, now class Maam Jean our topic for this afternoon is all about

Very Good. So, we will discuss on how to substitute Initial

The teacher will have a “ Picture Hunt”. She will show


another sets of pictures in the pocket chart and say “ Today
we are going to do a picture hunt”. I am going to say the
name of the object. You must come up and show me where

Now, let’s try to change the name of each pictures. So, class
let’s try to change the first letter of the word to have
another new word by:

Change /c/ to /b/ in the Cup what is the new word? Maam, Cup- Bup

Change /c/ to /m/ in the Cat what is the new word? Cat- Mat

Change /b/ to /L/ in the Bay what is the new word? Bay- Lay

Change /M/ to /L/ in the Map what is the new word? Map-Lap

Change /M/ to /D/ in the Man what is the new word? Man- Dan

Change /S/ to /P/ in the Pad what is the new word? Sad-Pad

Very Good Pupils, now what have you observed when we Maam, if we change the initial letter of each word,
