Notes 2

2.2 Notes
• Prior to installing, please check if your current license file is valid for the Release 2019.1.
Proceed as follows:
Start the I++Simulator and go to the license administration (CTRL+F10).
Check the EasyRob Version – this must be at least V8.0. If not, find out if you have a valid
software maintenance agreement. If so, contact your contact person at Hexagon. Otherwise,
you must first renew your agreement in order to use the new release.

• The installer was redesigned last year which meant that older I++Simulator versions had to be
manually uninstalled. This still applies to users of version V8.0.17114.1 and older. If release
version 2018.1 is currently installed, you no longer need to manually uninstall the application
and an update installation will be performed automatically.

• The software runs on Windows 7 (SP1) or Windows 10 (at least version 1607). Version 1803 is
recommended for Windows 10.
Future release versions will only officially support Windows 10. The software may install and run
on Windows 7, however errors in relation to the operating system may not be fixed and support
will be limited.

• You no longer need to launch the application with administrator privileges (see change history).

• A new registry key has been added for starting the application in offline mode:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\MTWZ\Quindos7\IppSimulator,
Name Env = IppSimulator; the old key is no longer valid:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\MTWZ\Quindos7\IppServer
Starting with the current user behaves the same (HCCU)

• Migration EasyRob v8.0

Change History
SimData Changes 3

3 Change History
• User data are stored in the directory C:\ProgramData\IppSimulator\Environment. This should
ensure that the current user has the necessary privileges. Past experience has shown that the
necessary read/write access to folders is not always granted – in particular when the application
was initially started using an account with administrator privileges.
In order to resolve this issue, the application is now blocked from launching with administrator
privileges. In addition, the existing user group Everyone is now granted full access to the files
and folders.

• The IppServer.gmdb database required for launching the application has been renamed to
IppSimulator.gmdb
The search order is as follows: the application initially looks for the database in the Databases
sub-folder – the search methods in the registry are then applied.

• The IppServerErrorTrack error log file has been renamed to IppSimulatorErrorTrack.

• The databases IppServer.gdb and IppServer.ldb have been renamed to IppSimulator.gdb and
IppSimulator.ldb.

• Sub-folder \System\Resources\V8 for new language files; the application can now be launched
with the corresponding language file without incompatibilities.

3.1 SimData Changes

The following items have been changed: None.

New items:

• LSP-S2 Scan+

• LSP-X5-HD

3.1.1 Obsolete Files and Folders

• Layout.xml, Connectors.xml, ConectorIds.xml

• Leitz\Racks\SirioSX TWB (folder and all files)

• PMM-C_16_12_10_iRT4-Rotary2.item

Known Issues
4 Older

4 Known Issues
• 3D-PDF export in orthographic mode does not function correctly. During PDF creation, the view
is now switched to perspective mode and switched back when finished.

• The registry key “UseDMEProtocolExtensions” cannot be changed if the I++Simulator is already

connected to QUINDOS (only relevant for scenarios with Core-DS).

4.1 Older
Problems with specific ATI graphics cards and drivers were frequently reported in the past. These resulted
in the inability to launch/execute the I++Simulator and the I++Simulator_HostInfo. Furthermore, problems
displaying geometries in the preview window were also reported. These issues were fixed in version
V7.0.16123.0.

If Netop Vision6 (formerly MasterEye) classroom management software is installed, the I++Simulator may
not be able to make a Winsock connection with the License Manager.

If a joystick axis trigger is “stuck” after installation, unplug the device and plug it in again. It is advisable
to remove both dongle and joystick prior to de-installing!
