Introduction

Technology and gadgets are now indispensable in our daily lives. In the past few years
carrying a miniature computer (a smart phone) in a pocket has become commonplace.
Technology helps advance the human race forward and makes doing mundane things
more efficient and repeatable. Technology has helped create the information revolution.

With technological advances, devices have evolved to be so powerful and smart that it
feels like having a super-computer on one’s hands. Humans now have an insatiable
appetite for information at their fingertips. When technology makes this happen, the
natural tendency is for this to become an expectation. When was the last time you
printed a map or wrote a snail mail letter? If you did, then you belong to the elite
endangered cadre of humans who are vanishing rapidly. Welcome to the information
age! Before we frame our problem, we would like to ponder briefly over how our lives

Background of the Study

Gadget addiction has been a growing problem in many schools. Gadget addiction is a
common problem encountered by teachers and others who work in the field of
education. Students who are addicted in using gadgets tend to not participate nor listen
during classes and will be expected to fail their grades and also have effects in
student’s academic performance.

Gadget addiction is one of the major concerns for teachers at institutions of higher
learning. Students who do not participate in classes create a dead, tiresome,
unpleasant classroom environment that makes students who in oppose participate
actively in class discussions become uncomfortable and the teacher irritable. Gadget
addiction disturbs the dynamic teaching-learning environment and adversely affects the
overall well-being of classes. When students are busy manipulating their gadgets, they
miss valuable information resulting from peer-lecturer interaction and the benefits of the
specific examples that the teachers use to clarify difficult concepts. This valuable part of
the learning experience cannot be replicated when lecturers re-teach the material to
gadget-addicted students. In quality terms, Gadget addiction is a waste of educational
resources, time and human potential. Also causes rework and wasted time for teachers

Statement of the Problem

this study is conducted to determine the significance of knowing the causes and effect
about the gadgets addiction.

1. Is there a significant relationship between the frequency of use and impact of

gadgets?

2 Does the gadgets help you live longer?

3.Does the gadgets help you at your daily life?

4. What would be the result after using the gadgets 4 to 6 hours.

5. Determine the positive abd negative effect of electronic gadgets to student.

6. Determine tge specific reason why electronic gadgets affect students studying habits.

3
Hypothesis

(Ha1) Give the students an advice on how to control their use of electronic gadets.

(Ha2) Gadgets are fun

(Ha3) Gadgets brings joy to the family

(Ha4) Gadgets make things compact

(Ha5) Gadgets are encouraged to innovation and creativity.

(Ha6) They help in saving space

4
Significance of the study

This study determine the impact of gadgets in students learning in Calinan Lam
Adventist Academy. Thus significant to the following:

Students. They will know the benefits of using gadgets in learning and help them study
effectively.

Teachers. This will give awareness to teachers to allow students to use gadgets more
freely and also to guide them in using the gadgets.

5
Scope and Delimintation

The main scope of this study was to determine the effect of electronic gadgets to
students.

The purpose of this study is to prove that gadgets can be affect to us and this study was
concducted at camp 3 Talomo riverside Davao City, the reseachers conducted their
study at the mentioned place because it is a comfortable place for them to work in and
materials are completely available

Definition of terms

The following terms are defined conceptually and operationally or as used in the study:

Gadget. This refers to an often small mechanical or electronic device with a practical
use but often thought of as a novelty. In this study, gadgets refer to cellphones, tablets,
laptops which are used by the respondents in le

It is easier to accomplish daily tasks and people are also able to do work with efficiency.
One cannot even dare to imagine life without smart phones, cell

phones, laptops, tablets, iPods and so on (Tech Crates, 2012). Today’s gadgets

are one of the ways to make life more comfortable and easier.

Gadgets used in Learning

According to Gammuac (2013), today’s classrooms are equipped with the

latest technology to enhance instruction. Smartphone use in the classroom is still

somewhat controversial, but the Calgary Board of Education actually encourages

Methodology

This chapter presents the research methodology which includes the research design
used in conducting the study. It also includes the sources of data, locale of the study,
population/sampling, and the instrumentation and data collection.

9
Conclusions and Recommendations
Include in this chapter are the conclusions, and recommendations of the study of
Gadgets addiction.

Conclusions

Relative to the analyses and interpretation of data, the following conclusions were
drawn:

1. Cellphones were always used by the students, computers were sometimes used by
the students and tablets were seldom used by the students in learning.

2. The use of gadgets has a moderately positive impact in learning because of its
features that extend the ability of the students to do more things but it also has a slightly
negative impact because students are most likely to be distracted by it.

Recommendations

With all of the foregoing analysis, interpretation, and conclusions of this study, the
following are strongly recommended for possible course of action.

1. Future researchers can conduct a similar study and improve some flaws.

2. Another research should be conducted as follow-up study to investigate further the

impact of gadgets in learning.

3. Future researchers can use this study for references.
