Leader, we all have different perspective of what a leader is. Imagine that we're in a
classroom and our teacher gave us a group project or a group activity. We'll all have to
group ourselves and decide who leads the group. Now, let me ask you...what kind of person
or a student we usually choose as a leader? Right, we choose a leader who is capable of
leadership, a person who has the capacity or ability to lead the group, with appropriate
skills for the goal of the group. And mind me, I feel all the chosen leaders, being chosen and
leading the group at the time...serving the group. We all may agree or not, the leader is the
one who serves the group. In a group activity, the leader sometimes is being left with all the
work, and members do nothing until the leader do something and that's why the leader
must know how to serve the members in order to make the group work to reach the goal,
or finish the work before the deadline. Leadership is just about the leaders of the world,
president, politicians, and governments, but leadership is all about organizations or groups
that were made that has a leader that leads people for certain goals, plans, principles or
perspectives that an organization have to work out and reach, for the better of the group or
organization.

A group leader serves the group for better grade for the group activity or group
project. A president serves the country for the better future of the countrymen, economical
status and good reputation of the country. These are just examples of common leadership
that happens. In order to be a good leader we must be a servant. A leader is a servant;
people cannot reach the goal or work without the leader serving his/her people for the
better of the group, organization, government or country. How can a leader be a leader
without service? Being a Christian, we know that we have our leader. If Jesus Christ didn't
do anything when we were sent to Earth by God the Father, will we have our faith and
salvation? Jesus led his disciples, serves God and His people to lead the people and spread
the Word of Salvation, the Truth. In order to lead, he has to serve the people's need. Jesus
approached the people and prayed to cope and give what the people need and because of
the people's faith to God, miracle was created. If Jesus haven't humbled himself and become
God's servant to die for our sins, will we have our salvation? Leading is serving, these two
are inseparable, and because of these two we create teamwork, a teamwork that will help
us to reach a goal efficiently, effectively and faster. What is a leadership without serving?
It's dictatorship. Yes, there's a leader but a leader is not a servant, the people instead serve
for the leader for the goal, people must do what they are told to do, without the leader's
service or help, the leader just dictate. That is what a leadership is without service. The best
example is the country of North Korea, no need more discussion of what this country is like,
because we all know from what we all have heard or we barely heard rather. And to the
people who does not even know what it is like and to the people who does not even know
what it is like to be a leader, try to imagine...put yourself in the shoes of a leader. Respect
and support our leaders, let us have the teamwork that we need for successful leadership.
"The great leader is seen as servant first." said Robert K. Greenleaf, the author of the
book 'Servant Leadership'. If you are chosen to be a leader, what leader will you be? Do you
want to be a servant leader to lead the people? Or do you want to be a leader that sits and
just dictate the people. And if you are to choose a leader, what leader will you choose? A
leader who serves the people? Or leader that makes the people serve the leader? I stand
here and have given my words. Am I right? Or I am right? And yes, we all have different
perspective of what a leader is, we all have different understanding of what a leader is
composed of to be a great one. But I believe what Robert K. Greenleaf said. A leader can't be
a great one, if he doesn't have used to be a good servant. Just like Jesus, he can't lead his
disciples, if he is not a servant of God, son of God the Father. Leaders are servants of his
own people, of his own self for the benefit of all. We not need any more words, for I know I
have already said what is needed for all of us to know that a leader is a servant.
