INTR 1020 Final Reflection Prompts

1. You began this course by exploring your future career and creating a Weebly page that
described the qualifications and skills necessary to be successful in that career. In 3-5,
well written sentences tell us what career you chose and why you want to follow this
path. What is your motivation? If your choice no longer attracts you, what alternative
are you considering and why do you think this is a better match?

My future career will be in athletic training. I love sports and I always wanted to help
players and support them in the medicine field. On top of that, as an avid sports fan, I
would get into all the games and travel with the team for free.

2. In the second week you brought a set of notes to class and reviewed them with a
partner. Afterwards you revised them to make them more useful for learning. In 3-5,
well written sentences describe what changes you made to your notes and explain why
you found this helpful.

I changed how organized my notes were and the neatness of my notes. I also dated
my notes so I can easily find notes that are needed. This helps me because it will help
me study better and give me a higher success rate on test and exams.

3. In week 3 you came up with a degree plan. In 3-5, well written sentences describe what
you hope to achieve at UCBA and what plan to do after UCBA.

I hope to use my resources more and to connect with my professors often on my way
to finish my two-years at UCBA. I also hope to gain connections between fellow
students and mentors along the way. I will then transfer over to the main campus to
continue my studies in health sciences.

4. In the fourth week you started doing research on your chemical substance. In 3-5, well
written sentences describe your compound and what you found out about it. I did my
substance on testosterone. It was synthesized in 1938 in Germany, and then used to
cure depression. It was then used in the 1954 Olympics to enhance the performance of
athletes. It is still used for the same purpose to this day and is illegal.

5. In week 5, using Bloom’s Taxonomy levels as a guide, you wrote questions about the
chapter you had read in the Poisoner’s Handbook. Share with us your two best
questions and in 3-5, well written sentences say why you picked them.

6. In week 6 you did an assessment of an exam and reviewed how you had prepared for it.
In 3-5, well written sentences describe three study strategies you used that worked well
and tell us why they worked well, or describe three study strategies that you are going
to try for the next exam and tell us why you think they might help you prepare. The
three things that I will do the next time I take an exam are:
1. Use flash cards or Quizlet
2. Make a schedule with breaks so I won’t get overwhelmed
3. Organize my notes.

7. Threaded through the whole course has been the Poisoner’s Handbook. In 3-5, well
written sentences tell us what you enjoyed most about your chapter. What made the
case particularly interesting?
I enjoyed the story behind the findings of the chemical. I was also really intrigued by
the ways they were used for killing people as well.

8. Another piece of the course was creating an e-portfolio (Weebly) that allowed you to
build a professional online image as a UCBA student. In 3-5 well written sentences tell
us what pages you found particularly useful and why.

The pages that helped me is the basic overview of my career. Making this page
allowed me to have a better understanding of what I will be doing in the future. I also
find that my academic plan page is helpful as well because it gives me a look at future
courses that I will take.

9. And finally, in 5-8 well written sentences tell us what things you really enjoyed in the
course and why. What things should we keep in for next semester?

I enjoyed learning more about my future career choice and how I can improve on the
way to achieving my bachelors for that career. I also enjoyed the poisoners handbook
as well. I really liked the tails of these different chemicals, how they were discovered
and how they basically changed the world for better or worse. I also liked the guest
speakers that came and presented for the class. I thank Professor Fritz and Yoshi for a
great six weeks of class!
