Grade/Section: Group#:
Task: Writing down the Rationale of the Study
Directions: Write the rationale of your research study by answering the following questions [see research workbook].
Assign a question/s to each member of the group. Use 1 whole sheet of paper for each question. Then collate the answers
as shown in the examples 1 and 2:

The Rationale of the Problem. Justify your research problem inquiry with persuasive arguments on the value of studying
the problem; the following guide questions are helpful:

1. Is the problem a current and timely one? If yes, explain.

2. Is it pervasive or widespread? Prove it.
3. Does it affect the special group of people such as mothers, children, farmers, drivers, students, construction
workers, etc? In what way? Cite a scenario or example.
4. Does it relate to the on-going programs such as land reform, family planning, TB control program, TESDA,
ROTC, etc? Explain.
5. Does it relate to broad social, economic, and health issues such as unemployment, obesity, HIV, local terrorism,
etc? Justify your answer.
6. [NO NEED TO ANSWER]
7. What are the possible useful contributions or impact on the welfare of a group of people or the society as a
whole does your study may bring? Identify or name any possible contribution?

Example #1: Guide Questions on the Rationale of the Study

1. What is the rationale of this study?

A: the rationale of this study can be summed up by the answers on the following guide questions on the rationale of the
study:

First, is the problem a current and timely one? [If yes, explain.]

School leadership is a current and timely issue because K-12 program is currently intensified by the government

the school heads.

Second, is it pervasive or widespread? [Prove it.]

will inspire and lead the school to its utmost potentials and to reach the DepEd organizational goals in general.

Third, does it affect the special group of people such as school administrators/school heads, teachers? In what way?
[Cite a scenario or example.]
The school heads and the teachers are the key players in the education system in delivering the quality basic
education. The inspiration and influence welded by the school heads affect the work-related attitudes and behaviors of
the teachers that presumably affect their morale and consequenty the quality of their performance.

in the school leadership and management.

Therefore, knowledge glean from this research findings will serve as baseline in which both school heads and
