INTRODUCTION

The present academic work corresponds to the course of TECHNICAL ENGLISH II of the

professional School of HUMAN PSYCHOLOGY of the Faculty of Health Sciences of the

ALAS PERUANAS University. Through the present academic work answers are given to the

topics of the activities planned to be developed in the present course, they aim to stimulate

the investigation of important topics of the English language.

Today, more than ever, it is essential to learn the English language. Every day is used more in

almost all areas of human knowledge and development.

It is, in the era of globalization, the great international language, a "lingua franca" that has

impacted in all countries, and that affects more or less directly the various fields and

professions. Its possession can no longer be treated as a luxury, but is an obvious

necessity. Moreover, it is even said that anyone who does not master that language would

be in a clear disadvantage: it would be as if he were mute or half-illiterate. And there are

plenty of reasons to say it. The pretense of this work is, then, to make these motives see

and to make us aware of the enormous importance of studying English.

QUESTION N° 1:

WRITE A 150 WORD PARAGRAPH ABOUT A TOPIC YOU LIKE THE MOST IN

PSYCHOLOGY. USE PRESENT PERFECT AND SIMPLE PRESENT TENSE. (3

POINTS)

The key to forgiveness? (Love relationships)

Many couples have already suffered from this terrible issue. The most important thing

between a man and a woman in a relationship is each other’s understanding. However when

there’s a betrayal or misunderstanding. They should come up with new ideas of overcoming

the possible consequences that there will be as a result of them. If the couple has not been

able to cope with their issues on time, everything will get worse at once.

Because betrayals are unavoidable, being able to work through such problems is the key to

maintaining a healthy relationship. Essential forgiveness involves letting go of hurt feelings,

not holding onto a grudge, and taking steps to re-establish a sense of intimacy and closeness.

Knowing that the central role that forgiveness plays in our close relationships, it should come

as no surprise that researchers have spent decades studying the issue. The research shows that

being able to forgive a partner depends on plenty of factors: the severity of the betrayal, the

degree to which the betrayal was intentional, the remorsefulness of the offender, the sincerity

of the apology offered, and the willingness of the harmed partner to understand the reasons

why the betrayal occurred.

All in all, the psychologist should be careful with this issue because it is a tricky situation in

which two people’s feelings are involved.

PREGUNTA N° 4:

MAKE A PARAGRAPH EXPLAINING ABOUT THE DOWN SYNDROME(3 POINTS).

Down Syndrome

In every cell in the human body, there is a nucleus, where genetic material is stored in genes.

Genes carry the codes responsible for all of our inherited traits and are grouped along rod-like

structures called chromosomes. Typically, the nucleus of each cell contains 23 pairs of

chromosomes, half of which are inherited from each parent. Down syndrome occurs when an

individual has a full or partial extra copy of chromosome 21.

This additional genetic material alters the course of development and causes the

characteristics associated with Down syndrome. A few of the common physical traits of

Down syndrome are low muscle tone, small stature, an upward slant to the eyes, and a single

deep crease across the center of the palm - although each person with Down syndrome is a

unique individual and may possess these characteristics to different degrees, or not at all.

In recent history, advances in medicine and science have enabled researchers to investigate

the characteristics of people with Down syndrome. In 1959, the French

physician Jerome Lejeune identified Down syndrome as a chromosomal condition. Instead of

the usual 46 chromosomes present in each cell, Lejeune observed 47 in the cells of

individuals with Down syndrome. It was later determined that an extra partial or whole copy

of chromosome 21 results in the characteristics associated with Down syndrome. In the year

2000, an international team of scientists successfully identified and catalogued each of the

approximately 329 genes on chromosome 21. This accomplishment opened the door to great

advances in Down syndrome research.
