TITLE: A STUDY ON ISLAMIC CULTURE IN INFLUENCE THE MOSQUE DESIGN

Keywords:

a) Islamic Culture

b) Influence

c) Mosque Design

1.0 INTRODUCTION

Mosque is a place for worship and to lead multipurpose activities for Muslim. To date, the
research on shared mosque just focuses on the chronicled improvement, natural design
including ornamentation and style, innovative and specialized parts of mosque design
(acoustics, lighting and ventilation), protection and preservation and rules for mutual mosque
design referring to religious sources (Hadith and Al Quran). This study is significant because
the role and function of mosque in the present Muslim nation is generally misinterpreted
(Ismail, Tajudin and Rasdi, 2009).

As describe by (Merrit and Ricketts, 2011) building design is the way toward giving all data
important to development of a building that will meet its owner’s and also satisfy public health,
welfare and security requirements. Architecture is the art of building design. Building
construction is the way toward gathering materials to form a building.

Building construction is by and large performed by workers and craftspeople locked in for the
reason by an individual or organization, called a contractor. The contractor consents to an
agreement, or contract, with the building proprietor under which the contractor agrees to
develop a particular building on a specified site and the proprietor agree to pay for the
materials and services provided (Merrit and Ricketts, 2011)
2.0 PROBLEM STATEMENT

According to (Utaberta et al., 2012) In the construction of a mosque, a critical issue that will
be talked about is the high construction cost can some of the time outperform that can be
ordered as a waste. Afford such wastage maintained a strategic distance from if extra
components as design alone and don't deal with the mosque removed and instead practiced
simplicity.

Architects now days regularly focus more on designing a building in light of its looks or the
structures and the main function of space have been set aside. In designing a mosque, a
decent acoustic design is required for the worshipers. While giving talks or lectures in a
mosque, a some of the worshipers unable to hear obviously, and the message can't convey
to them efficiently (Othman et al., 2016)

With no design rules or standards, the architect, if luckily a practicing Muslim, is going about
on the bolsters of his plain understanding of existing mosques and concluded information from
other mainstream open structures, in this manner, including the danger of incorrect design
proposals regarding capacity and the Islamic shariah. Unnecessary to specify the seriousness
of outcome when the designer is a non-practicing Muslim or from different believes. In this
way, there had been a long felt need for definition of design criteria and standards for a
mosque (Muhammad and Imam, 2000).
