Section A: Directed Writing

Your school has organised „The Patriotism Week‟ in conjunction with the National Day
Celebration. As the secretary of English Language Society, your teacher has asked you to
write a report about the event to the principal.

Use the following points to write the report.

When writing your report, you must:

 Address your report to the Principal.

 Provide a title.

 Suggest two other ways to promote patriotism among students besides organizing
the event.

Write a composition of about 350 words on one of the following topics.

1. Describe a memorable place and how you felt about it.

2. Ways to prevent heat stroke.

3. Having a Facebook account is unhealthy for school students. Do you agree?

4. Write a story about how you have helped a relative in a difficult situation that ends
with:

“…. she cried tears of joys and whispered, thank you”.

5. „There‟s no place like home‟.

Describe a time when you felt this way.
