TLC® "Baby Amoré™": 1 Ball each 9631 Mint CA and
9001 White.
Crochet Hook: 5.5mm [US I-9].
Yarn needle.
GAUGE: 14 sts = 4"; 12 rows = 4" in hdc. CHECK
YOUR GAUGE. Use any size hook to obtain the
gauge.
Hat Circumference: 16".
Booties: 4" from heel to toe.
SPECIAL ABBREVIATIONS:
Dc2tog = [yo and draw up a lp in next st] twice, yo and
draw through all 3 lps on hook – 1 stitch decreased.
Dc3tog = [yo and draw up a lp in next st] 3 times, yo and
draw through all 4 lps on hook – 2 stitches decreased.
BOOTIES
With CA, ch 13.
Rnd 1: Hdc in 3rd ch from hook and in next 9 ch, 3 hdc
in last ch, working in free lps along opposite side of ch,
hdc in next 9 ch, 2 hdc in last ch; join with a sl st in first
hdc – 24 hdc.
Rnd 2: Ch 2, hdc in first 11 sts, 3 hdc in next st, hdc in
next 11 sts, 3 hdc in next st; join with a sl st in first hdc –
28 hdc.
Rnd 3: Ch 2, hdc in first 24 sts, [dc2tog] twice; join – 26
sts.
Rnd 4: Ch 2, [dc3tog] 3 times, hdc in next 8 sts, [dc3tog]
3 times; join in first st – 14 sts.
Rnds 5-7: Ch 2, hdc in each st around; join in top of ch-
2 – 15 sts.
Rnd 8: Ch 1, skip first st, 5 hdc in next st, skip next st,
[sc in next st, skip next st, 5 hdc in next st, skip next st] 3
times; join with sl st in beginning ch-1. Fasten off.
Tie: With CB, make a chain 15" long. Fasten off. Weave
chain through sts of Rnd 5.
HAT
With CA, ch 4; join with a sl st in first ch to form a ring.
Rnd 1: Ch 2 (counts as first hdc here and throughout),
work 11 more hdc in ring; insert hook in top of ch-2, drop
CA, with CB yo and draw through all lps on hook – join
and color change made – 12 sts.
Note: Carry color not in use loosely up inside of Hat.
Rnd 2: With CB, ch 2, 2 hdc in next st, [hdc in next st, 2
hdc in next st] 5 times; join with CA – 18 hdc.
Rnd 3: With CA, ch 2, 2 hdc in next st, [hdc in next st, 2
hdc in next st] 8 times; join with CB – 27 hdc.
40 hdc.
Rnd 5: With CA, ch 2, hdc in next 3 sts, 2 hdc in next st,
[hdc in next 4 sts, 2 hdc in next st] 7 times; join with CB
– 48 hdc.
Rnd 6: With CB, ch 2, hdc in next 4 sts, 2 hdc in next st,
[hdc in next 5 sts, 2 hdc in next st] 7 times; join with CA
– 56 hdc.
Rnd 7: With CA, ch 2, hdc in each st around; join with
CB.
Rnd 8: With CB, ch 2, hdc in each st around; join with
CA.
Rnds 9-15: Rep Rnds 7 and 8 three times, then rep Rnd
7 once more. Fasten off.
Earflaps-Row 1 (Right Side): With right side facing,
skip 6 sts following center back of hat, join CB in next st;
ch 2 (counts as first hdc here and throughout), hdc in
next 9 sts; yo and draw up a lp in next st, with CA yo and
draw through all 3 lps on hook – color change made;
turn and leave remaining sts unworked – 11 hdc.
Row 2: With CA, ch 2, skip first hdc, hdc in next 9 hdc,
hdc in top of ch-2 changing to CB; turn.
Row 3: With CB, ch 2, skip first 2 hdc, hdc in next 7 hdc,
skip next hdc, hdc in top of ch-2 changing to CA; turn – 9
hdc.
Row 4: With CA, ch 2, skip first 2 hdc, hdc in next 5 hdc,
skip next hdc, hdc in top of ch-2 changing to CB; turn – 7
hdc.
Row 5: With CB, ch 2, skip first 2 hdc, hdc in next 3 hdc,
skip next hdc, hdc in top ch-2 changing to CA; turn – 5
hdc.
Row 6: With CA, skip first 2 hdc, hdc in next hdc, skip
next hdc, hdc in top of ch-2 – 3 hdc. Fasten off. Weave
in ends.
With right side facing, skip next 22 sts of Rnd 15; join CB
in next st and rep Rows 1-6.
Edging: With right side facing, join CA in any st; ch 1,
work sc evenly spaced around entire hat and earflaps;
join with a sl st in first sc. Fasten off.
Ties: With 1 strand each of CA and CB held together,
join at tip of earflap; make a chain 15" long. Fasten off.
Rep on opposite earflap. Weave in ends.
