Meaning or Introduction:
Safety is the state of being "safe" (from French sauf), the
condition of being protected from harm or other non-desirable outcomes. Safety can also
refer to the control of recognized hazards in order to achieve an acceptable level of risk.

Purpose of Industrial Safety:


The objectives of industrial safety are as follows:

1. To increase as a mean to higher standard of living.


2. To reduse cost of production.
3. To conserve and make best use of labour avalible.
4. Toreduse neddle suffering and human wastage.
5. To have better human relation in the industry.
6. To have better morals of employees.

Accident:

An accident is mis shap which case some injury to the person,


damage to machines, tools and equipment, which result in loss of
production. The accident may due to worker’s own fault which may
prevented by his own precaution or it may be due to his enmployer’s
fault for not making safe working conditions.
Common Causes of Accidents:
The following are the common cause of accidents:

Unsafe condition:
An event may occur that would result in fatalities,usually with the loss of the
arcraft, or

Cxondition to the extent that there would be:

1. Congestion in the workplace.


2. Inadequate work system.
3. Fire and explosion hazard.
4. Poor housekeeping.
5. Hazardous atmospheric condition.
6. Excessive noisses.

Unsafe acts:
Unsafe act - proformance of a task or other activity that is conduted in a
manner that may threaten the heaith or safety of werkers.

1. Over loading.
2. Over speeding.
3. Lack of knowlede about experiment.
4. Lack of knowledge about equipment.
5. Loose dresses.

Unsafe Mechanism:
All the open parts of machine which rotate normally and causes dangerous is
invovledin unsafe mecha nisam

Example

1. High speed fans.


2. Gears.
3. Belts.
4. Heating elements.
5. Cutters.
6. Generator and motor shafts.
7. Open tool grinders.

Reasons for Accident


Common Hazard:
 Fire

Fire is the visible effect of the process of combustion a special type of chemical
reaction it occur between oxygen in the air and some sort of fuel.

Some causes are below:

1. Smoking
2. Aaccumulation of inflam able product like paper.
3. Store of inflame able material neer heating source

Acidic burn:

There is dangerous effect of acid if we use it neglgently.

 Electric shocks:
1) Exposed parts of electric equipments (that are not locked) may cause
serious accidents.
2) Metal ladders can conduct electricity and cause arcing and shocks.
3) Wet hands or body parts.
Sefety gears:
There are used in industry of safety gears are follows:

 Gloves:
Work gloves are personal protective equipment worn during work projects that cover
and protect the hands from the wrist
to the fingers

 Ear
defenders:
A defender of a
particular thing or person
that has been criticized, they argue or act in support of that thing or
person

 Visor or goggles:
A visor or goggles reduce the chance of
chips penetrating the user’s eyes. This is
essential commponent for safety.
 shoes:
Safety boots are nessary for working in
industry. They also prevent you feet’s
from shock.

 Apron:
It is used for wearing in industry to protect human body. It is necessary for
works to wear it from protection poit of view.
 First aid kit:

First aid kit usually contain basic aid things which are very necessary in
case of an accident initially.

 Safety precaution:
 The machine should be operated only by skilled workman.

 A workshop is only as safe as you make it. One must ensure proper
workshop safety since ultimately you are responsible for the safety
of the personnel.

 Even a home workshop requires that you take care of safety


measures. Here are a few ground rules.
 Keep the workshop as clean as you possibly can. Of course, a
workshop is used for a number of uses and it can easily get
cluttered.

 Make it a habit to organize on a daily basis. Even just putting tools


and apparatus away in proper places would be a great beginning.

 Next, remember to keep all combustible items aw

 Keep a fixed place to store your gas can. Paint and glass can be
damaged by sparks from a grinder so keep these away from spark-
producing equipment as well.

 Remember to wear safety goggles and face shield when grinding or


using cutting tools.

 Never put off this safety essential that can prevent you from serious
injury. Wearing them ensures you never have to go to the
emergency room.

 Have reliable support for all your equipment.

 This prevents objects from falling and causing painful injuries.
