many of us facing this issue after upgrading to android 9(050 or 053) from 8.1(340)
first of all run this command in fastboot mode -

Quote: fastboot oem device-info

and check your verity mode.

one facing the issue about your device is corrupted - your result will be verity mode- false .

finally to remove red state alert about your device is corrupt and cannot be trusted,you have to enable usb
debugginh mode and have to run simple command to enable dm-verity.
run

Quote: adb reboot "dm-verity enforcing"

in cmd promt (with quotation tis time). thats it.your phone will restart and no more red state alert.

How to enable USB debugging if the phone does not even power up due to the red state alert?

In which mode do we need to run this command? Stock Recovery? (power+vol down) or fastboot (power+vol
up). In both cases the adb commands do not recognize my device. Please help.

I get the following error in the cmd when trying the command with fastboot:

fastboot: usage: unknown reboot target dm-verity enforcing

Also, the phone screen has completely turned black with a small text at top left saying "Press any key to shut
down"

FYI, on running the command "fastboot oem device-info", my device's verity mode is in false.

My friend there are 2 type of red alert in our device.

1) red alert -device is corrupt and can not be trusted-written on screen
2) red state alert-written-this is because of device intregity fails like wheb you have custom recovery or root
installed in your device and you try to relock bootloader.
For 1st you can boot into system and run the command.
For 2nd you have

word. recovery and unroot your phone before locking bootloader.
Kindly upload your alert msg so that i can guide you further. My method is for this kind of warnin. In this if
you press and hold power button you will boot into system. Show me yours msg. Click pic of it and upload it
here

"RED STATE your device is corrupt. It can't be trusted and will not boot. Device will shutdown in 20sec" if your
red state msg show something like it and dont boot up. This is 2nd type of red alert and for that you have 2
option
1) is to flash official recovery of device and fully unroot your device
2) is to clean flash service fastboot rom(this eill erase all your data) search for 340fastboot rom for asus
x00td (around 1.8gb file zip)

This is the problem in my device, I have attached the pic:

It says press power key to continue, if I tap power key, nothing happens. If I press and hold the power key, the
andriod and then Asus logo shows up and then it just shuts down (not event the boot animation shows up). If
I keep holding on the power button, the device just reboots to this message, I have tried it but the phone does
not seem to boot at all to stock android OS.

FYI, the device is new, bootloader is not unlocked ever, never rooted, never installed custom recovery/ROM,
etc.

Ypur device must be max pro m2. I guess your boot partition must be lost. For that you have to flash
boot.img from official rom zip(choose boot.img from which version you are on) if not boot up last resort is to
flash fastboot rom.it is available on 4pda.ru(search 4pda.ru asus zenfone max pro m2 and go to official
firmware section and select firmware>service firmware)for your device. Latest 64 or 65 i dont know exact.
But download it and flash it ,it will wipe your whole data and freshly install os into your phone. No warranty
void nothing. After that you can able to boot into system and perform asb commands
